Hello all, I've seen a few of the crazy and not so crazy setups (lucky people!) of installations and garaging for our Mach E's, but not all in one place. I thought maybe I'd start a new one to see the struggle and ideas some other members have had!

My situation is we have 4 cars (2010 Ranger, 2021 F150 5.5' Supercrew, 2022 Hyundai Venue, 2022 Mach E) and HOA rules force us to fill all garage bays before we can park anything in the driveway. Due to dimensions, I am forced to park the F150 in the only location possible, which creates a door ding situation with the car to the right of it and we have to keep that for the narrowest car possible. That forces the Mach E on the farthest single bay. My service panel is in the farthest location from there (more than 24' standard EVSE cable). I would like to not use Nema 14-50 extension cords and would rather use 6 AWG in clean conduits to an outlet on one of our "dividing" walls. This also gives more flexibility in case our car situation changes down the road (more EV's? kids off to college).

My most ideal location, the wife would need to back the Mach E in, which she is capable of but also refuses to use every parking aid I've ever installed. In that case, I'm guessing she will prefer to pull in forward as usual. Then I will need some clever cord management across the ceiling (bike hooks likely) and maybe one of those tool counter-weight pulleys.

So let's see those creative solutions out there!

Here is what I drew up of my garage situation. I have an electrician estimate scheduled tomorrow and I wanted to show my options using this. I may even put a spare junction box (not outlet) near the ceiling at Location2 for future tapping if I go with Location1. Would be nice to have when we park the travel trailer out front to pre-cool the fridge or do mods (I use my Powerboost F150 to power the trailer if I need A/C in the driveway).

Well, you asked...

Bosch/SPX - got as part of a deal from our utility company
JuiceBox - won in a contest
Clipper Creek - picked up for campground charging
and Ford OEM--when I took the pics the Ford OEM was the Focus Electric's EVSE (not the Mach-E's)--yes these pics are 9 years old.

Oh and that junction between the JuiceBox and the plug melted a few months ago so now the JuiceBox goes straight to the plug. Took it a while to give up the ghost.

I've placed the outlet so the charging cable can reach the car parked outside the garage. Just saying...

Pulled some wire from the basement into the garage for a 100amp sub panel. Got a 60amp breaker going out to where my chargepoint flex charger will go. Ordered it 7 weeks ago and still nothing. Just coiled wire where it will go up at the front if the garage.

I did add a 14-50 outlet right off the sub panel on a 50 amp breaker to be used as a spare in case there was ever an issue with the hardwired charger. Thank goodness I did that so I have a place to plug in the Ford mobile charger for the time being.

Lots of new 120amp and 240amp circuits for the rest of the garage/shop.

Ford Wall Station on central column between the cars and a 14-50 outlet on the wall in front of the recently departed "real" Mustang. The Mustang had to make way for the Lightning which is due at the dealer next week.

This might work for you .... a bit expensive but, months later, still love it.

I liked that video a lot. If my wife goes for an EV, that will be the solution.

That's a great invention! Unfortunately for me I have racks holding 2 paddleboards blocking the only wall I can mount to :( But I plan to use a carabiner and a few bike hooks in the ceiling to route similarly, we'll see if it passes "code" (my wife's opinion on whether it sucks). My first choice for the outlet is that wall under the shopvac where the other electrical conduit is, I just have to route over our heads.

For now this Level1 charging has a perfectly located outlet for the Ford Mobile EVSE!

Because of the way my foundation is I had to put the ChargePoint at the back corner of the car. The side benefit is not only does the cable reach the front of the car, it will also reach outside the garage and over a spot if my car is parked outside.

Things are just a tad tight in my garage, so the EVSE is tucked away... (This photo was taken before the EVSE was installed.)

The easiest was to get a sense of my EVSE setup is with video:

This is my setup. Some pulleys set up on a conduit pole. Bigger pulley was made from a stroller wheel. It gets pulled back by a spring tool balance that's fairly cheap.

REELCRAFT TB03 (1.5 - 3.0 lbs load range), but honestly pretty much any tool balancer in that load range should work...
