Hello all, I've seen a few of the crazy and not so crazy setups (lucky people!) of installations and garaging for our Mach E's, but not all in one place. I thought maybe I'd start a new one to see the struggle and ideas some other members have had!
My situation is we have 4 cars (2010 Ranger, 2021 F150 5.5' Supercrew, 2022 Hyundai Venue, 2022 Mach E) and HOA rules force us to fill all garage bays before we can park anything in the driveway. Due to dimensions, I am forced to park the F150 in the only location possible, which creates a door ding situation with the car to the right of it and we have to keep that for the narrowest car possible. That forces the Mach E on the farthest single bay. My service panel is in the farthest location from there (more than 24' standard EVSE cable). I would like to not use Nema 14-50 extension cords and would rather use 6 AWG in clean conduits to an outlet on one of our "dividing" walls. This also gives more flexibility in case our car situation changes down the road (more EV's? kids off to college).
My most ideal location, the wife would need to back the Mach E in, which she is capable of but also refuses to use every parking aid I've ever installed. In that case, I'm guessing she will prefer to pull in forward as usual. Then I will need some clever cord management across the ceiling (bike hooks likely) and maybe one of those tool counter-weight pulleys.
So let's see those creative solutions out there!
Here is what I drew up of my garage situation. I have an electrician estimate scheduled tomorrow and I wanted to show my options using this. I may even put a spare junction box (not outlet) near the ceiling at Location2 for future tapping if I go with Location1. Would be nice to have when we park the travel trailer out front to pre-cool the fridge or do mods (I use my Powerboost F150 to power the trailer if I need A/C in the driveway).
