Maine resident here. I have snow socks in my frunk in the winter, but haven't needed them, on the original tires, or my snow peak rated all season tires.
May be worth feeling out how much insurance will cost for a new driver. I would lean towards a Leaf, Bolt, Kona, or Niro, as they're compact and can be cheaper (and cheaper to insure). An older Leaf is tempting if you don't want your new driver driving longer distances, but bad idea if range...
The problem with trying to future-proof and get a level 2 charger capable of V2H is there isn't a standard for V2H yet. Different vehicles do it differently. You spent a lot of money on a charger in hopes of not needing to replace it in several years, but it still may not be compatible with your...
Hah. I've been planning stops for road trips for decades, in part because even when driving an ICE vehicle, I wanted to plan stops around restaurants, accessible restrooms, dog friendliness, etc. One of my favorite stops has a food truck that serves Canadian and Indian food... Mmm butter chicken...
I am still boggling at the driver (or maybe passenger in back seat on zoom?) recording this whole thing, and and the driver keeping their car this close. I wouldn't have wanted to be pacing that craziness.
Car Care Nut's a Toyota and Lexus master mechanic, and that's the perspective he's coming from, even though he looks at a lot of other cars as well in his car reviews. He has reviewed other EVs from the standpoint of a master mechanic, and his criticisms are fair. We don't really know how long...
Maine has an annual excise tax on cars based on the original MSRP, the change in mileage on the car, and the age of the car. https://www.maine.gov/revenue/taxes/property-tax/excise-tax
It means the people who buy expensive cars pay more, but they're also the ones who probably can afford to pay...

Well this other thread about not having the promised free adapter was just posted earlier today, and there usually is a similar thread about how someone still doesn't have their free adapter yet, posted almost daily...
These would be fine for campus security to patrol around, or for IT to go fix or upgrade things on site. Sure, they may have larger vehicles as well, but the Mach-E and Solterra are reasonably practical starting points.
Um... There are a lot of ponies on these cars... Are you hoping to remove them all?

I live in Maine, near Augusta. My Mach-E is a California Route 1, so has no trouble going down to southern Maine and back, or even up to Jackman and back (did that for the eclipse last spring). Did she leave her car at a free level 2 and take a taxi to the conference? She certainly could have...
If someone needs to rescue an unconscious person in an EV or really in any car, and the door doesn't open (because doors lock), break the glass and open the door from the inside.
If you aren't generally driving more than 30-40 miles at a time, and aren't pushing the limits of range with road trips, don't wait for the heat pump. If you are driving 200-300 miles or more a day, it may make enough of a difference to justify waiting.
For the long distance drives, people who evacuated several days in advance of the storm probably were fine. My nephew flew out the Sunday before the storm, and if he were driving instead, that probably would have been just as doable. His school closed for the week, which made that more feasible...
My husband disputed the credit card charge for the one we ordered, after getting nothing but an automated troubleshooting ticket from Fisker, and hearing from Wallbox that they have already fulfilled all the orders Fisker sent them.
Mine still says it is estimated to arrive in April 2024. ?
It still has the order number that got lost by FedEx, too, though. Apparently Ford doesn't have a way to update the order number, so i get to watch everyone else list delivery dates to guess if mine might be coming soon, or watch FedEx...
I used to own a bZ4X, and yeah, the tint and thermal coating on that glass roof was far less than on my Mach-E. I am in Maine, and do not need an extra shade for my car. Some people down south sometimes do, but it's fine up here.
