After the 3.5.4 OTA, AA stopped working for me as well in that it wouldn't launch on the MME. No joy rebooting the phone and/or Sync.
Had to forget BT on the phone, forget BT on the car, uninstall and reinstall AA on the phone, pair up the phone with the MME on BT like it was de novo. Then I...
Wireless AA is wonky, to say the least.
Something people MIGHT want to try is to manually install the latest non-beta AA version (currently 8.3) via downloading the apk on a trusted site. This obviously involves taking on some risk.
On a personal note, I finally got 3.5.3, over two weeks after...
Just upgraded from Pixel 6 Pro to 7 Pro, using the latest monthly version of A13, Android Auto 81626474. Everything works on my MME as expected (unfortunately, the Assistant not responding all the time to its hotword is now expected...)
I would suggest clearing storage in AA settings, and if...
Though I may not be able to help, it might be useful to someone for troubleshooting to post some additional info:
- your phone, it's OS and update level (e.g. PIXEL 6 PRO, Android 13, Oct update)
- Android Auto version (e.g. 8.1626474)
There's a whole thread devoted to full-screen Android Auto (AA) on this forum.

Bottom line:
2022+ MME already have fullscreen AA.
Earlier builds of the MME -- like you and I -- are...
Well, we have a '22 Bolt and a '21 MME.
Here's the thing: the house was not plumbed for natural gas, so we're necessarily FULLY electric. All appliances, including water heater and heat pump. As you might imagine, this was a total layup for getting solar.
But we overbuilt the solar array, so...
I'm also on Sync 421 running the most current versions of Android Auto (7.9x) and Google Maps (11.40x) on a Pixel 6 Pro (July firmware) and I'm staring, annoyed, at a thick dark bar in my Nov '20-build FE...
I have a (late Nov 2020 build date) '21 FE, was waitlisted since Jan' 21 for Early Access and heard nothing. But just tried signing up again as I read this thread... and was immediately enrolled.
Filling out the Android Auto screen and having an AC button are, in my mind, absolute no-brainers and low-hanging fruit for a vehicle that its manufacturer boasted has OTA updates.
UI updates like this are EXACTLY what sold consumers like me on Ford's promise to incrementally improve the...
To me, whose MME is my sole vehicle, the loaner/rental car provision with every repair is worth the price of the extended warranty itself (which I purchased at Zeigler, with a coupon code AND my Ford rewards points... So it came to around $400). That's 10 days of a rental at $40/day. Counting...
If you can't get Android Auto (AA) to work WIRED, you've got no shot at getting it to work WIRELESS...
So get it going wired first, then proceed to wireless.
Basic steps:
- On your phone: update AA via the Play store to the latest version available for your device
- Reboot your phone
- On your...
You're not alone in your experience of Ford Pass 4.17 crashing out in Android.
Half of this thread is a discussion of this topic:
https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/fordpass-4-17-0-now-available.18925/
Thanks for posting this.
I was going to unroot (and possibly clean flash) as a troubleshooting step today, but will now hold off to the July update in about a week's time to see if no root does make a difference to 4.17.
You probably saved me a couple hours, and it's appreciated!
MagiskHide went away with Magisk 24. It's gotten a little more complicated to hide root, but I'm using the current method to do so and it does pass all safety checks...
I don't disagree it could be me.
But if you're willing to point that out, maybe you're also willing to be additionally helpful and explore exactly what's the difference between you and me, since you're saying it's a user issue.
I'll go first:
P6Pro, US unlocked version, 128gb
SQ3A.220605.009.B1...
Maybe. So I tried to reinstall 4.17 de novo and it crashed after I first signed in. Relaunching the app crashes it every time.
The Pixel 6 Pro is Google's flagship. Arguably, it's about as close to a reference standard for the Android OS as you can get.
What'chya doin", @Ford Motor Company ?
I'm rooted. Restored a Swift backup of Ford Pass, could also have restored Titanium backup.
If you don't have that available, you can download the 4.16 apk from a trusted site like apkmirror or its equivalent. If you're comfortable with that.
