I went to go purchase a Mach E this weekend and when the Dealer gave me the offer, one of the list items was 'Markup - $10,000'. When confronted about it, they said that it's just the way that the market is right now and they do it because they are hard to come by. I didn't think that something like this was ok for Dealers to do. This increased the purchasing price and monthly payments considerably. Any others with this experience?

Unfortunately this car is not one where you can just walk into any dealer and see several in stock. As a result, when one does become available it is common for the dealer to ask a markup of anywhere from $5K to 10K (most are currently $5K).

The good news is if you are willing to place an order at Ford.com and wait for the car (currently at least a 28 week wait), you can put your order in, select a dealer near you, see if they are asking a markup (most do not on an ordered car) and put down your $500 deposit (I would ask the dealer first if it will be a refundable deposit if you cancel before the car comes in).

There are many, many threads on this subject. If you run the search feature for ADM you will find a ton of info just to start.

I'm surprised that this would surprise you. News stories all over - websites, TV, etc. To be surprised by inflated prices is, well, a surprise.

Did you order this Mach E? Or is this Mach E off the lot? 10k markup is just about the average ADM I'm seeing for GTs on the lot in my area.

Your payments go higher considerably, especially if you were looking at Options or Lease since the ADM is baked into the monthly payments and not in the residual. Depending on your term, every $1k in ADM is roughly +$30/mo in monthly payments for options/lease, not including tax.
