Awhile ago someone posted the procedure for checking the status of the 12 volt battery by going into developer toolbox. The toolbox seems to have changed. Can the smart person or persons who posted before please update.

Buy a odb2 adapter, 40 - 50 euro, maybe 30 us dollars!?, and carscanner pro on the smartphone.
Here you can check the 12v battery as well and the current soc.
When you drive you can check also the battery charge power.
Maybe a hint if the battery is still ok.

You won’t need to drive to get a charge voltage, the DC/DC converter operates when 12V battery needs charging irrespective whether car’s in drive mode and you don’t need to be driving.

The battery management will just take care of it, don’t worry.

So long as HVB is above something like 15% charged car will charge 12V battery whenever it requires whether car is off or in drive mode, is pulugged in or not.

I’m 53months in and 120,500 miles in and have never worried about the 12V battery, it’s an overrated concern in my view.

All I need to know about the state & position of the 12V battery is that it’s black & square and sitting up front somewherešŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Adding things to the app means polling the vehicle. Polling the vehicle means waking it up, and draining the 12v. Sort of an oxymoron - give me 12V status in the app so I can drain it...

I believe this is the thread you are looking for @NJ Steve . I had used this procedure earlier in the year and it worked pretty well. However, I just checked now and it seems the 12v battery status is no longer available. Well, more specifically, the status field that contained the 12v voltage is no longer there ... it's possible it could be buried somewhere else.

Admittedly, I no longer regularly watch my 12v status since one (or more?) of the updates I received resulted in a much better management of the 12v battery. Prior to that, I would see the 12v SOC drop to sub-50% especially after cold nights. Some large updates require the LVB to be at a certain SOC level, maybe 70%, so I had updates not start because the LVB SOC dropped too much for the overnight update. In one case, I had to let the car sit in "run" mode for over an hour until the LVB got over 80% then manually start the update to get it to apply successfully.
