So a local dealership had received an all white "ice package" Mach E. I walked by this morning and WOW ?!! Sticker is $60,095.00, and the sneaky tag on window stating "current market value" says $75,035.00! $15K tacked on. I hope it rots on their lot or @Ford Motor Company catches wind. Damn!

Ford isn’t going to do anything about it. If it’s a cancelled order, the dealer can do what they want with it.

These kind of practices just make me sick. If this is how they're going to do things, I'm ready for direct to consumer sales.

I agree, but it sounds like at least it's only 10% of the dealers according to Jim Farley. I would just find one of the other 90% with no ADM.

Farley knows 10% of ADM Dealers
Thankfully I have mine. I just feel for those out there looking. That's money just going out the window.?‍♂

Well... yes and no. The vehicles are pretty hard to get, due to a combination of low production relative to the demand. They're also new, so the second-hand market isn't exactly vibrant. Then there's the fact that they're a new type of vehicle (electric), which comes with a lot of plusses over standard internal combustion engine cars (particularly as the cost of gas seems to rise by an average of 10 cents each week, for the past few weeks).

So to play devil's advocate, what "value" is added with the markup? I've been waiting about eight months since ordering my Mach-E, and I waited one month before ordering to ensure that my order would be for a 2022 model year (which, in hindsight, didn't matter much - although I did get the color I wanted, which was limited to the GT trim for model year 2021). I'll probably get my vehicle 10-11 months after having ordered, and it's possible it'll actually be a full year. So these markups are like "cutting the line" and getting the car now. There is some value in that. (And as of now, order banks are closed, so people will need to wait another two months before they can even place an order and start the waiting process - which will hopefully be faster for model year 2023, but who can say.)

That said, there's a reason why I ordered online after confirming my dealership wouldn't charge markup on online customer orders. I also hate the haggling process, and wondering if I could have gotten a better deal or if I was outright screwed over. So I'm right there with you on cheering direct-to-consumer sales.

My brother in law and I saw a cancelled space white premium RWD standard battery with 7.5K ADM on Saturday. It sold within two hours.

ADM isn’t good or bad . The only issue is about how the online orders are treated where there is a legitimate critique that dealers are breaking valid contracts. Otherwise the price is what the market will support

I take issue with it because the dealerships were warned by Ford not to add ridiculous mark-ups, OR risk getting future shipments cut.

I guess the idea that "everybody's doing it" is cool for some folks.?‍♂

Food, fuel and a place to live are necessities, just a touch different than the new car market. Fuel more so because of trucking.

Don't take my thread as me going through life angry, far from it. I just want to see all dealerships playing by the same rules or remove them from the process.
