The reason why you have 20% loss is that the tires you chose weigh in at 36lbs. 10 lbs more than the stock tires.
Those pounds are more struggle all the time, not just when taking off but keeping speed, ride quality, and braking.

I noticed a large decrease in MPG in my previous ICE vehicle after switching tires, so I think tires make a big difference.
Yes they can. But 20%?

Seems high if you replace the same size tires. In measured comparison tests, different brands of tires seem to only make a few percent difference.

With a BEV it wouldn’t be any different.

Run flats are very heavy and that is un-sprung weight the motors have to move. Run flats are the worst choice for EV range. 20% loss is not surprising at all.

My MPG loss was closer to 10%, but it was shocking nonetheless.

It still would surprise me. Even with run flats it wouldn’t explain 20%.

I’m not saying it’s impossible, but I would love to see any independent testing showing a 20% range loss even going from the most efficient tires to the worst (in the same size).

Here was an 8 tire test and at most was a 3% difference in range-

Maybe the old 1st and 2nd gen RFT were heavy and were not a good choice, but the 3rd gen RFT are just like a conventional tire - light - not stiff sidewalls - very good grip and efficiency (so far).

Just put on the Bridgestone DriveGuards on my wife's PHEV and so far about 8% range loss.

I watched the trip meter the other day just to see. So we’re talking. It was 80° out, it said range 218 miles on the GOM, which does not hold a lot of weight for me since I’ve got a News to many comments on this forum about the guess o meter. So I went to the Air Force Base, which is about 20 miles exactly from my front door to the gate and I use 10% battery for 20 miles But the GOM had 188 showing when I got to the gate. I was driving anywhere from 45 to 65 miles an hour the whole time more time at 65 than at 45, but I’m happy with my cross climate Michelin. They’re very good tires so I’m not sure if it will be worth changing the tire out to pick up 20 more miles

………erm, no, not that much, must be more coincidental conditions to cause 20% loss, in my view??‍♂
