This is regarding the charger that came with the car. Original was already replaced due to amber light overheating. We are currently on our second charger and and we are still having issues and don’t know why. The first charger would give us an amber square in the corner, this 2 d one gives us the same amber square light but with a weird sorta arrow looking amber light as well in the middle. Looking at the app the charging time stop times change as the amber lights come on.

has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions on what it could be ?

How long have you been using the replacement charger? If it’s new and the amber light is on, you could have a bad outlet overheating.

When the amber light comes on, unplug the car, then unplug the charger from the wall and immediately feel the metal prongs. If they are burning hot you need a new outlet.

Replacement charger about 2 months before we started noticing the amber again. It’s a new build and outlet has already been replaced same time we replaced charger. Thanks for the prong advice, we’ll check that out next time.

Even though it turns amber I still get average 22 miles an hour.

It’s still the amber “Overtemp” indicator. I suspect the color aberration is just a funky display - no hidden meaning.

Hello! Send us a private message with your VIN and the name and location of your local Ford dealer. I’d be happy to see what I can do to assist with this charger concern. Thanks!

I just started having the same issue this week. My car is a 2022 . It will be one year old this July. I noticed it at the very end of the charge. The estimated time to charge the car when I first plugged it in did not change . It actually finished about 1/2 hr sooner. The plug did not seem to be any hotter than it has always been. I did notice my charge range increased to 270 miles that’s new. I only charge once a week . So I do have a amp meter . I will use it on the next charge. I will use it for the whole charge and see what it’s pulling in amp draw during the charge.

I have been charging my 22 SR at home with level 1 only had amber light once. Turned breaker off then it’s gone. I recently needed to drive a lot but with its charging speed it can’t keep up my mileage need. So I upgraded to level 2, tested charging this afternoon, wow, 7 times faster but about 30 minutes into charging amber light turned on, on and off every 10 minutes or so. I’m thinking if the charger waterproofed I can put a damp towel on it to cool it down.

Or, you could simply return it to the dealer as defective and get a replacement under warranty.

Yes, it's waterproof. No, a towel isn't going to keep it cool. Some put a fan on it.

Or, you could buy a reliable level 2 charger.
