Partial amber light - mobile charger - what does it mean?

seems to be charging just fine.. doesn’t feel hot…

This is a known issue, but random and unpredictable.
Convince your dealer to replace the device.

So I was using mine fine at one house (first time using it), then drove it to my house and got amber. I’m just moving into this house and going to have electrical work done. I knew most of my outlets had no ground, even if there was a three prong outlet. Sure enough I got a tester, every outlet near my garage is ungrounded. I brought the mobile charger inside to a known grounded outlet and it worked!

It means it’s on its way out. Replace under warranty if you can.

Seriously? Our dealer does not have ability to check it. Lame if you ask me.

Tom's Ford in NJ could not even check the charger because they don't have a 220 line for level 2. Who do i contact about getting it looked at.?

Yes - red light (maybe along with others).

Call Ford, explain your problem, tell them to contact the dealer and tell them that it needs to be replaced. Some dealers suck. Mine replaced it without question.

And be sure to tell Ford their dealership is not properly equipped for testing Ford EV equipment. We're just talking about a 14-50 outlet here, not a DC Fast Charger!

I got just solid Amber light but wasn’t even plugged into car. I unplugged and replugged into receptacle and went away. I suppose in order for dealership to replace the amber light will need to be on?

Does this happen all the time or every once and a while?

I get that light once every few months. If I unplug and replug it from the wall it goes away.

In my case, either the charger is warm or it’s likely just a generic fault (maybe a power surge or outage caused it).

But I haven’t replaced because it still works and chargers almost always.
