Thank you everyone. Feeling very lucky.

I do plan on getting another GTPE, depending on the settlement. Learning things like “private sale value” vs “replacement value” and the impact on expensive cars that have depreciated rapidly due to current used car market. I also live in MN which is a no fault state. Fun stuff when it was 0% your fault.
Interesting to see where the dents occurred. Based on that photo the battery pack looks like it's fully intact, although who knows what might have happened on the inside. I'm glad you and your passengers are all safe. It is reassuring to see how well the car holds up in one of the more horrifying crash scenarios.

How about a light-hearted question: it looks like you had Iconic Silver (or maybe Iced Silver Blue?). Those colors aren't offered anymore, although I suppose you might still find one on a dealer's lot. What color are you thinking to get for your next MME?

What was the opposing vehicle? Assuming 150lb avg passenger weight, they found out that T-boning 5700lbs of EV wasn't wise. Any other CUV would have probably went tumbling. Glad to see you were all unscathed thanks to modern engineering and crash worthiness standards.

Thank your for the advice on medical care. We are certainly taking this very seriously.

The other car was an older Toyota Corolla that I’m sure was totaled. The front end was smashed almost to the cabin and their airbags did go off. As far as other details I don’t want to go into specifics as the insurance part is still ongoing

The car was Iced Blue Silver Metallic, a color I really loved. I previously had a 2021 Grabber Blue that I also liked. I’m guessing won’t be able to get a new one with valuations that have been discussed so far, but we’ll see. In that case I would try to get another 2022 GTPE with the same color.

Unfortunately my 2022 GT Performance Edition was T-boned by a person that blew a stop sign on a state highway near my home. I had 4 passengers and we all walked away. The other driver appeared OK, as well, although we only talked through the police. The impact was very severe and can’t believe no one was seriously injured. I am very thankful we were in the tank that is the Mach-E and all of the safety features: All side airbags deployed - the curtain and door bags on the impact side were obviously the most important; The brakes worked flawlessly as we spun around stopping in time to avoid oncoming traffic; The car called 911 automatically. It was a surreal experience hearing the car say something like “Crash detected, calling 911” and the phone ringing almost immediately as the airbag smoke swirled around and we realized what happened. An experience I really hope to never have again.

While many of us get annoyed by all the “quirks” that come along with early stage EV, I’m very grateful to Ford and the Mach-E for protecting me and my passengers in a very dangerous situation.

That’s crazy!

Curious about the 911 call though.

Was that a feature of your car of your phone or watch?

I have heard that an Apple Watch can call 911 in a crash, didn’t think our cars have that feature.

Pretty sure the 911 call was a Ford thing. Like OnStar used to be. That part is a bit of a haze, though.

On a positive note, I should be picking up my new 2023 GTPE tomorrow or Friday. Shadow Black with the “nite pony package”. I actually haven’t even seen it in person yet but think it looks pretty sweet from the pictures. This will be Mach E GT #3 for me. Anyone beat that? 😁😁 Although I do not recommend my path to get to that number.

Back in 88, got tail ended in buddys car, two airbags deployed, we were fine, I look at yours, and the safety that has evolved is just jetsons level, glad all are alright, can replace things, can't put a price tag on a life!

Glad you and your passengers escaped major immediate injury. Gives me some piece of mind seeing the MachE take a hit like that safely.

You may already know this, but even though you all walked away and maybe feel ok now, I highly recommend all passengers go to your doctor and evaluate starting physical therapy. My wife was in an accident where she was rear-ended several years ago. She was having some mild neck discomfort, and luckily she went through physical therapy right away on recommendation from the doctor. Insurance of the other driver covered cost of the therapy plus reimbursement for time spent to/from and in therapy. I know many others that have lingering effects from car wrecks years earlier, and at that point it is too late not only to get insurance to cover it, but also for the body to fully recover.
If one has no symptoms, then how does a doctor justify signing a consult for physical therapy?

So glad no one was seriously injured. Very sorry your car got wrecked because today's drivers are morons. I guess all those safety ratings accolades are not just hype. I had no idea Sheeba had crash detection and will auto call 911.

No symptoms, and normal exam, then no, cannot justify referral to PT. If there are some symptoms, even mild, it may be more justifiable.

From Fins160 post, " My wife was in an accident where she was rear-ended several years ago. She was having some mild neck discomfort...". So, she was having symptoms, mild neck discomfort.

STOUT !
can't believe the is basically no deformation inside the cabin from an impact like that,

also, kinda makes me wonder how insurance companies are going to handle salvage buy-backs. Just think of all the stuff on the car that could be pulled and re-sold for repairs.

I was wondering about salvage, as well. Seems like there is a lot they could use on a 1 year old car.

And….
Got my new car today. Exactly what I wanted was in town. 2023 GTPE with everything and the Nite Pony option (I know, overpriced but really nice looking). Very happy, but driving it is anxiety-producing from the crash. Other cars since the crash weren’t nearly as triggering. Thanks for everyone’s support!

That anxiety should get better with time, though it might still be a bit higher for a while in the intersection where you got hit. The new car looks good!

Glad you and your passengers are OK. Good luck with the Insurance companies. No Fault, does that mean you can't sue for the difference between insurance value and actual replacement cost?
