That's a great idea and an easy fix. Ford should take it. Ford: are you listening?
I also wonder what else the people had in common when this happened.

Just a theory, but I would bet most if not all are in 1PD.

Guessing because the first reaction would be to take your foot off the accelerator expecting the car to slow and stop and then when it doesn’t have to slam the brakes in a panic. Would be a bit more scary than 2PD where you skip that first step.

The bump turns it on.

It will only turn on and resume a speed if you hit the button and it sees cars in front of you (like a parking lot).

It can’t just be a coincidence that every time it’s people in a parking lot turning the wheel.

Ford should put better programming in place to prevent this from happening accidentally though.

Simple programming fix- that resume button only works if you’re going straight.
I wasn't sure bumping the resume button activates the cruise control even the CC is not powered on and speed has been set. So I just tried, it didn't do anything, just like I thought. That makes perfect sense, nothing preset then nothing to resume to. I guess what happened to those experienced the sudden acceleration was their CC still on and used on highway. But again isn't it supposed to only activates at a certain speed? not in any parking lot speed?

It works, but only if it detects a car in front of you. You don’t have to have had it on previously.

It is detailed in the manual. Someone posted it on one of these threads.

Unintended and unexpected acceleration has happened to our 2021 and 2023 MME’s. Started happening recently so we suspect that it is most likely related to a software update . . .
