If you don't like the rental for other reasons you could put in a code complaint about the illegal electrical system. I should have done that about a falling apart historic mansion my in-laws rented a few years ago.

a 6A charge will add what, 1 mile per hour. Plug in all night for 12 miles.... better to find a real charger somewhere.
