1. Bi-directional charging (or at least a 120v plug - so much battery, so few uses)
2. Magnaride and Lighted Ponys for ALL!!!

The space could be used for something useful
Absolutely. How about kW charging rate when LV2 and DCFC or any myriad of battery nerd stats. How about the GD date somewhere? Okay a bit princess but man, we have time and temperature and compass direction, y'all can't just pop in a Wed, Jan 11 somewhere? More words, fewer icons? I've got UI issues, I know. I'm seeing someone about it.

So, press and hold a button, wait for the beep indicating you've held the button long enough, then speak what you want... is better than pressing a properly placed button one time?
Tapping a button, waiting for the beep, and saying something like “temperature 72” or “tune First Wave” is more convenient than taking my attention away from the road to mess around with tapping on the radio tile, then tapping on the station preset, then tapping on the navigation tile, or tapping on the temperature control, and turning the radio dial, watching as I turn the dial to 72 degrees.

Yes, I’d say one steering wheel button tap, followed by a voice command, while keeping my attention on the road is easier than futzing around with the screen. Pro tip: if you use a wake word, you can skip the button tap 😀

...which is why the current design (touchscreen controls at the very bottom of the big-ass iPad) is horrible. Physical buttons are better than touchscreen OR voice. My 2016 Kia Optima was easier and safer to operate.
I think I actually tried to do a voice command for temperature, but it didn't recognize it, so I just assumed it doesn't adjust temp. Maybe I need to look into the manual to see if there is a certain way to say it.

Tap the button on the steering wheel, wait for the beep, and say “temperature 72 degrees” (or whatever temperature you want. The “degrees” is optional.) if you press that putting and say “help”, you will get a brief tutorial. The only time voice commands are cumbersome is if you have passengers who won’t STFU 😀😀😀
Fortunately, I don’t have any friends, so I’m usually alone in my car 😀
