2024 Mach-E GT
Greetings everyone:

I'm new to the board but not new to EV's and I'm from the DFW area of Texas. (don't hold that against me) I've had a '18 Leaf, '22 Model Y Performance, a '23 Model Y Extended Range, and have a '23 Model 3 RWD Base (wife's primarily). I recently traded the '23 Y for the '24 Mach-E GT Premium with performance upgrade for reasons I'll leave to your imagination. (it rhymes with Yuck and is directed at a particular person) With any switch of brands and models there are pluses and minuses. Overall I like the Mach-E better. Fit and finish, comfort, noise level are all vastly superior. The software needs work, I think I'm on the latest version but it's close enough to my Y in terms of its features that I'm not finding the switch to be all that inconvenient. I do still occasionally hit the wiper stalk to shift gears instead of the twist knob on the dash, but I'll get used to that in time. I'm still learning the nomenclature around here but thought I'd drop a line and introduce myself.

One major annoyance I have, and I SWEAR I saw a thread somewhere that this was available, is walk away lock LOCATION exclusion. Walk away lock itself works fine, but I DO NOT want it to do it in my garage at home. I just don't need it for that location. I have searched up and down and at BEST I find conflicting information that is years old and maybe not even for my car model. I'm wondering if I'm just not up to date /enough/ on software.

In any case, happy to be here to discuss, contribute, and overall enjoy these cars. As a 3 time Tesla owner I'd love it if we'd get a little closer to feature parity but I'm happy to integrate with what I've got. I know we have some personalities around here that will tell me that search is my friend, well.. I disagree in terms of finding conclusive up to date data on my particular year model, trim, software version, etc.

Thanks all.

Congrats on your new MME GT with Performance Upgrade (the Premium is a separate trim). The walk-away lock function has no exclusions; it’s either on or off. I hope you enjoy your new ride. ??

One down. Two more to go. Welcome to the Mach-E family. I think we are two generations away from anything that resembles software parity. But I care more about the hardware (given I’m a grease-, not a code-monkey).

Thanks for the welcomes and replies, as well as the conclusive response to the location exclusion just not being a thing.

Also, I apparently said it was a GT Premium but I guess that's not a thing, so my bad. I'm pretty sure it's the highest trim just under the rally. I didn't study it quite as closely as I should've but it was also the only GT left on the lot.

It's also nice to have more buttons / knobs than on the Tesla's... I was fortunate to escape the '24 Models for Tesla as they seemingly.. and stupidly, moved to an all software shifting or on steering wheel blinkers and there's no way I was tolerating that amongst all the other things going on. I want to dispose of the model 3 as well but, well, gotta fight my SO on that one and she's already kinda pissed at me for the trade, not because she's a mega-Tesla or Musk fan, but because I have a bad habit of trading cars anyway. I also talked her out of her Prius into the 3 so we'd have more or less matching cars (they were same color) and operational things such as same app, charging port, etc.

Welcome!

The location-based exclusions / geo-fencing for walk away lock sound like a good feature enhancement.

I'm sure Ford will get around to it...Soon®

Aww. Matching pajamas too, I assume? ?. Hopefully the wife comes around with time. It’s hard to take a depreciation hit on a car that’s functioning well. Especially these days. Maybe a sticker would help keep the idiot vandals away.

I don't understand the rationale behind removing the stalks. Seems like change for the sake of change and cost cutting. It’s not in the customers’ best interest.

Which drive mode is most similar to your MY’s suspension tuning? Curious as we heard Tesla improved the ride quality some recently.

Due to lots increasing number of car thefts out of driveways and garages in my area I lock my cars whenever I am not in them including at night in my garage. The MachE does it for me . I have to remember to manually do it for my other car.

Stealing FROM the garage? That's a bold move cotton...not too much of a worry here. That's not to say it couldn't happen but it'd be awfully visible and an ill-conceived idea in my area.
