I think this has something to do with the string of vehicles being bricked by OTA's recently. I was recently made aware by another member here that FTDI is an acronym for "failed to de-inhibit". This may be a blanket OTA that sends some change to the BCM to help prevent vehicles from getting bricked from OTA's, and this is just an updated version of the OG update to include whatever fix they came up with now.

Ok so they were coming from ACR. The March version was ACS so this appears to be the same core strategy file. Maybe Ford just updated one of the config files. I’ll have to check with my car when I have a chance. I’m already on the ACS version so I’ll see what I have for F10A and F16C.

Unless I'm misinterpreting the above posts, the OTA seems to be installing the older BCM code, and leaving the new one still pending in FDRS. @Dadams installed their OTA, but FDRS was still showing a BCM update available...
That’s what I’m confused about as well. I’ve seen this in the past where OTA and FDRS versions were different, but it shouldn’t be ?

It's a simple check: Now that we know dadams updated, check in FDRS again to see if something BCM is still pending.

Got this update. Phone app told me about it yesterday, it installed overnight (my scheduled update time) with 57% battery. Borked Apple CarPlay as well as temp/AC settings. After unpairing phone and messing with AC settings a few times I got everything back to normal. No other areas seem to be affected.

I checked the version they just got OTA against my car and it’s exactly the same files as the March update. So this is nothing new.

Pending BCM update in FDRS is newer than this OTA. I think they literally forgot to switch the files for the deployment, or they decided to resume rollout of the same version and we will see a subsequent BCM update soon.

Got this update yesterday and finally I have a working frunk button on the SYNC screen. Hopefully the battery optimizations actually improve future OTA installations.

Perhaps this is Ford's way of a limited distribution for the purpose of testing. If the newest BCM update isn't sent OTA, the only way people will get it is via FDRS. Anyone who runs FDRS is either a mechanic or is likely more capable of handling issues.

Maybe, we can never tell because Ford doesn’t tell us much when they make decisions regarding OTA deployments ??‍♂

Glad to see they’re resuming the rollout though. I guess that means the software from March wasn’t paused due to an issue with it.

Looking from the outside in, it's hard to tell what they are trying to accomplish by rolling this out aggressively now. Maybe this older BCM software is less prone to getting bricked by an OTA so they are rolling people back? Who knows?

Just got notice for this one as I pulled into my garage a few minutes ago. I started it now instead of letting it wait until the automatic schedule tonight. Said the car would be unavailable for 7 minutes... which seems super specific.
It was a fast update. I started it in the car and checked FordPass 15 minutes later and it was done.

Wait - they are rolling people BACK to it? Is there anyone who had the newer BCM update (that just showed up in FDRS a week or two ago) that had this older BCM pushed to it??

My impression was that people getting this older (March 2024) BCM still had the newer (July 2024) BCM update pending in FDRS.

New update today
I am assuming this is the fix for the 12v-zombie lockout problem ?

hopefully one of the '23 owners that HAD the problem can execute the OTA, or get it installed at the dealership, and report on results ?

Not sure. Just conjecture at this point.
