We skipped Gainesville due to the bad reviews.

Yes, Lake City was the gas station.

Love bugs were next to non-existent. I washed the car yesterday, and every bug came right off like it was on butter.
Lake City EA was our last stop coming home. At least the chargers worked well for us there! Love bugs have gotten worse where I live! I wont be doing another road trip till the season is over! Lol

The energy out of the EVSE isn’t the energy that makes it into the battery.

Do what you will with this information.
True. So closer to 400 instead of 418kw. So 3.01 kw/mile.

On our trip home, I set Trip 1. Our first leg to SC was 2.7 mi/kw. Local in SC was 3.5. Then from SC to Michigan was 3.1. Eliminating the local driving in SC, using a pure weighted average, we got 2.92 on the way home vs 3 on the way down.

Haven't gotten into my complete reconciliation of this roundtrip, but as I reconciled my credit card, noted the following:

Charged in Cordele, GA. Account got hung up, had to call EA. They said IT would have to look at it. 62kwh, no charge. Next stop used credit card because app wouldn't work because of the above. They hit you for $50, which is supposed to "disappear". Actually, it's a real charge that they then reverse out. They did both - but never charged me for the actual usage.

Williamsburg, KY 28kwh free, due to charging issues.
Georgetown, KY 19kwh free, due to charging issues.
Harpers Station, OH 54kwh, charger faulted 3 times, switched stations. Paid for 14kwh.

If that doesn't show you how EA has issues...

So when I look at the trip back from Florida to Michigan, via a few days in South Carolina, I'm struck with how screwed up the EA network is.

First stop was S&S in Lake City. No charging issues.

Next stop was Cordele, GA. Account "locked up" so we had no cost for 62kW. No idea if this was an account issue, an app issue, or caused by the charger.

Stopped at Forsyth, GA. Used credit card because account was still locked up, and wasted 10 minutes on hold for EA to start it charging manually (as they had said they would when I called after leaving Cordele), finally gave up and paid with credit card. They hit your card for $50 (not a pre-authorization, a charge), then they give you a credit back in a few days. We got the credit, and no charge for the charging which should have been $5.69 due to it being only a 30% charge.

Then stopped for the night at the hotel and its 5.3kw charger.

Second leg we left with 100%, and stopped at the Harley Davidson dealer in Kodak, TN, and EA location. No issues, except for EA - they charged us at the lower per minute rate of 12 cents, instead of the 24 cent rate.

Williamsburg, KY. App issue, got 28kw for free.

Georgetown, KY. Multiple issues. Gave up and left with 57% charge, 19kw and paid nothing.

Harpers Point, Ohio. A bad charger faulted 3 times, so we ended up moving to another. Got 40kw for free, paid for the last 14. Wasted over 1/2 hour.

Limo, Ohio, ChargePoint to get enough to get home. 27.3kw rate instead of 50. ChargePoint ended up refunding the money.

So day 1 I paid $12.94 + 5.69 = $18.63 to drive 575 miles, or 3.24 cents per mile.
So day 2 I paid $6.08 + $4.64 = $10.72 to drive 700 miles, or 1.53 cents per mile.

The most expensive part of our roundtrip was the using the free minutes from Ford, we should have not used them and instead "paid" with EA, we would have come out ahead. ;)

Had we taken our F-150, the ride home would have been around $200 instead of $29.35...

Of course the huge amount of time wasted restarting on a charger 3 times, then moving to another charger, or spending time on the phone with EA, is "priceless".

Not the blueprint for running a profitable business huh?
