No one that isn’t a ford employee with strict nda orders knows exactly what is next. Before the great pullback in late 2023, 7.0 was next. That was to bring the latest and greatest Blue Cruise version, which may or may not have been version 1.4, and may or may not have been an improved version of BlueCruise 1.3.

Did I equivocate enough?

The whole thing about having your car connected to Wifi seems to be somewhat of a myth. Other's on this forum have stated that the Mach E only receives downloads from Ford while you are driving the car, and in an area that receives good AT&T Wireless coverage. I did not believe this initially. But after owning my car for several months now, I can honestly say that every update my car has received, has been received while driving. The update does usually install overnight at the scheduled time. But as far as the actual download from Ford, it only seems to happen while driving. And no, you do not need to keep the car on overnight.
EDIT - prior to the MME, I had a 2020 Escape Hybrid, which actually did receive updates while connected to WiFi.
The car only CHECKS for updates when you start it — which is why it usually discovers updates when you are driving.

But whether it can download the update via WiFi depends on the update. Ford has to mark the update as being available over WiFi. They all seem to be available via AT&T.

I have had updates that were discovered when I was driving, but required the car not to be in use when installing and I’ve seen some of the bigger updates download over WiFi as it did that.

This is a good thing because AT&T coverage is terrible in my neighborhood. Even outdoor signal is horrible. But inside the house, car, or garage it is completely hopeless.

So I’ve recently received 6.2 like some others here how do you know when the blue cruise is updated? What do you look for the update version?
When you get an update that changes the version of BlueCruise, the update notes WILL tell you. It will be very obvious.

You can also look at the OTA updates listed on this page: https://github.com/elmedico27/fordpowerup

No … 6.2.0 was before 6.14. 6.2 is also one of those versions that was re-released … some people got a 6.2.1 after getting 6.2 … but then Ford released a new version of 6.2 which was _still_ named 6.2 even though it was technically not the same as the original version. Any car getting 6.2 today would just get the correct (re-released) version.

The version sequence was 6.1 -> 6.2 (and a couple of versions of this) -> 6.3 -> 6.4 -> 6.6 (there was no 6.5) -> 6.7 -> 6.8 … and then _some_ cars got 6.13 (not all cars needed 6.13) and then finally 6.14.

BTW, none of those updates change your BC version.

Ha, amazing.

Edit: Ah I get it now. It’s version 14.
The versioning was throwing me off.

So I got 6.1–6.3 in the past 2 days. I lost blue cruise and regular adaptive cruise with all driver assists. I also got this strange blue rectangle on my instrument cluster. I hope more updates are coming?

Both Google and Apple have had the necessary permissions to do much more than either one has actually done. Exactly why they’ve chosen to add certain features they are available in the native navigation is a question they ought to answer.

Did you, by chance, happen to recall getting 6.13 (even if out of order)?

There is a reported delayed bug with 6.13 that disabled the driver facing camera. This would result in lane centering no longer working as well as BlueCruise hands-free no longer working (both require driver monitoring camera to work).

There was an attempt to fix this via OTA and I’m not sure what happened with that. I was told to take my car to a dealer and they would manually install the fix. The dealer got the car in the morning and I had the car back later that day … with BC and lane-centering working once again.

A bunch came in but it appears they came in order from 6.1 to 6.3 as the latest from what I can remember

I just got 6.14, the release notes say I should have an app called public charging but its not there, that seems weird.

So… THREE things:

1) Depending on when you bought the car and what model year you have … has your BC subscription expired?

2) I had an issue with my ā€˜23 (I also have a ā€˜21) where BC wouldn’t work because the maps were too old.

If this happens the car wont let you use BC because it doesn’t trust the maps. In my case, depriving the car of 12v power for about 10 minutes … and then reconnecting … fixed the problem. WARNING: If you do this … numerous modules have to reboot from scratch (instead of just waking from sleep). It will take a good 20 minutes to complete this and you WILL get error messages (don’t panic). Once that is done and you start the car (so now it’s been around 30 minutes), the car still need another … roughly 15 minutes to talk to the cloud, download map updates, etc. and then BC started working for me.

3) Apart from that incident … there was the bug that was posted here on the forum. The bug was such that once you got 6.13 … it was just a matter of time before the bug might trigger. It could be a day, a week … or several months. The bug was blamed on 6.13. I have no special knowledge of this … I’m just going by what others report. But this bug reportedly disabled lane-centering and BC. It requires a software update to fix. I read reports that there was an effort to send this via an OTA. I had to take my car to a dealer for the update. But it did successfully fix the issue.
