Preconditioning few questions

1. I have been reading about preconditioning in cold conditions and battery temperature really seems to be key (other than cabin temp). If my MME GT is in my garage and the temp reading before leaving the garage is above 32 degrees, I assume that the battery is going to be that temperature as well if it has been parked there for hours. If so, do I need to precondition?

2. I charge at home with a Juice Box that is plugged into a 240 volt receptacle. Using that app, I set the charge by setting the present battery charge percentage and ending at a given percentage, say 85%. My FordPass charge limit is set to 90%. When the JuiceBox reaches 85% the charging stops saying it has reached the set limit. On FordPass, it says charging has paused. If the battery temperature drops to a low enough point, will the car get shore power to keep the battery at a desired point for efficient use? Also, if I set a departure time on FordPass will it precondition the battery even though JuiceBox has stopped charging because it has reached the % I had set?

3. Because Ford obviously thinks that preconditioning is good both for efficiency and battery health, why isn’t battery temperature shown on the info screen? This should be easily done. Is it something we should be asking Ford to do in one of its OTA updates?

You don't HAVE to precondition, but it gives you better range and in extremely cold temps can help preserve the battery. I would NOT set up charge schedules/levels in both the car and the EVSE (charger) - in your configuration I do not believe the EVSE will give any power to precondition once the battery is at the proscribed level. IMHO set up the charging levels and schedules in the car and clear them from the EVSE

1) If you need the range, yes. Optimum battery temp is low 70s. Preconditioning (only available by setting a departure time) gets it to 59. If you don't need the range, no.

2) JuiceBox has no idea what level of charge the car has. None. So setting a percentage there makes it stop arbitrarily, based on what level it thinks it has, and adding to that to get to 85%. I'd recommend not using that setting (I have a JuiceBox). Set the car at 90% as Ford recommends and that's that. If the JuiceBox pauses charging, the car won't get juice, period. You'll want to remove that level in the JuiceBox as I said. If you look, JuiceBox thinks the car has zero when you first plug in. My car had 90% this morning. It now has 75%, and won't charge until 7PM tonight. JuiceBox will show around 15% when it's done charging, i.e. 75 + 15 = 90%. I can change the start setting manually, but there is no reason to.

3) They know it isn't shown, likely won't be.

Thanks to both of you. I will set up charging as you suggest using Ford to set the charge and not Juice Box.
