My new A2Z NACS to J1772 adapter arrived the other day. I’m looking forward to using it to recharge our 2025 Mach Premium on my daughter’s level 2 Tesla charging station at her home in NJ on our next visit. I read carefully through the A2Z operating instructions and it says to first “insert adapter’s J1772 head to your American Standard charging port” then “connect the charging gun to the adapter” Some new terminology there to me. My interpretation is I plug the A2Z adapter into my Mach E port first then connect my daughter’s Tesla connector to the adapter and hopefully there is some handshake and it starts charging. Sounds easy and hopes it works but curious why the connection order is opposite what I’m told should be done when using my Ford supplied level 3 adapter at Tesla superchargers. There I’m told to first put the adapter on the Tesla “gun” before plugging it into my Mach E port. Makes me wonder if the order of connection matters at all on the A2Z adapter. Any insights?
