I haven't looked into what's involved yet cause I don't have skin in the game (I have a '21 Prem) but I was under the impression that it was the IPMA that did all the processing. So I'm not sure what's "missing" here. I don't know what would need to be added back to complete a car that had been 'decontented' (other than sensors I mean).
We’re not ”missing” a part, it’s more so they gave us an IPMA that doesn’t have park assist / side sensing capability. If you look at the parts list i attached theres two types of the module. the more expensive module has park assist capabilities (diff by a few hundred)

Do the 2023 MachEs still not get active park assist?

I went back an read the email I got from Ford and it states

"When microchips become available, you will have the option to purchase the Active Park Assist feature at the then current price when this feature becomes available."
Hopefully this means the whole module doesn't need to be replaced (maybe just a chip within the module), but I may be reading too far into the press release.

there's been a couple of similar things (power running board, seat massage) on the Lightning, where the credits to the price don't remotely cover the future cost of installation. Not fun.

Just wondering, if you found a wrecked 21 or early 22 have had this module could you swap it in, would it be that simple or would you need some activation or programming to recognize you now have the new module? I just wonder if it's worth looking for one in a junkyard?

it needs to be completely reprogrammed. not a simple swap. definitely not going to be cheap to get this installed when and if it ever becomes an available option

I like Park Assist I used it often. Hope they include it in the 24' and on then. Or I may be keeping mine as well.

I've used the perpendicular parking once. At the dealer no less when I had to pick up some accessories.

Like that too when I I am ready to start Parking side by side with other cars.

If you look at pictures of 2022 ME's you will see the sensors are installed. It looks like the $260 module in the image below is on backorder. It looks like it is plugged into a harness behind a panel in the trunk area. You could possibly get a junk yard part or purchase when they are available at a later date.

What you have circled is the IPMA, all Mach-E's will have one of those installed since it is used for lane assist and/or BlueCruise.

Does the new 22s have the Park Button next to the Hazard lights or is that a blank?
