NEVI plan requirements:
(i) EV charging infrastructure is installed every 50 miles along the designated corridors
(ii) the charging stations are capable of simultaneously charging four EVs
(iii) the charging stations have a capacity at or above 600kW total or at least 150kW per port

Nice!! I only see 33 states listed though. Last time I checked Puerto Rico and Washington D.C. were not states. 😂🙄😝

One thing I was not clear on is how will payment work with this new national network? Will EA or ChargePoint have roaming agreements for the national network? Or do we need yet another membership?

Yes. I think that requirement is a dig at Tesla because their charging stations don’t have a UI.

I’m also wondering if there will be a different membership price and a non-member price like how most networks charge for the service/electricity today. I guess we’ll wait and see.

It’ll be the second to last approved. Presuming of course that West Virginia hasn’t gotten approval for coal powered DCFC. ;)

On a serious note, Hawaii needs at least three waivers: One for the entire island of Lanai as DCFC there would put excessive strain in their grid — like more than 10% of peak capacity. They want to substitute a bank of L2 in Lanai City. The other two are for Hawaii island. The cross island highway is in a designated corridor. There is no possibility of DCFC there. None. So they want a bank of L2 at the park at the half way point which also is a park. The other is on the South Point to Waimea route. The logical place for the chargers is in Kailua Kona (the largest town on the west side) which is more than 50 miles, but not by a ton.

Personally, I’d blow off putting a charger in the middle of nowhere Hawaii Island. and just use the funds for better station in Kona and South Point. But that’s just me.

Oahu, Maui, Kauai? Small. One station complies.

Yeah, putting a DCFC on the Saddle Road wouldn't make tons of sense. A bunch of L2s for Pohakuloa would be good though. Kau to Kailua is a tougher one. Assuming they put one in Naalehu, why not have one in Captain Cook?

Parking I’m guessing. A station is planned for the West Hawaii Civic Center. The southern one is planned for HOVE.

Lanai can get by with Level 1 charging!
It has a designated corridor. Thus needs a charger. Only the big island gets more than one though. We’re “special.” ;)
