I purchased car 1/6/23, same false alarm issue. I'll contact you directly Ford.
Hello, Bobby! Feel free to send over your VIN and the name and location of your local Ford dealer.
I’d be happy to see what I can do to assist with this alarm concern. Thanks!

Ford is taking their marching orders from the dealership (who got their marching orders from Ford) that the TCU is the problem rather than a software patch rollback that has been discussed by others on this thread. Does anyone have more specifics to share on the exact software issue that is causing this open door alarm? Has Ford been helpful to anyone in getting this resolved?

Ford is also telling me to take my car to the dealership to get service on this issue. Which makes me wonder what was the point of them responding to me here and having me DM them with all my information.

@SeaMustang Looking the history the @Ford Motor Company account, almost every response is same "Sorry to hear you are having problems, please DM me your VIN and the name of your dealer"

Why would the official Ford acct want the name of the dealer, if you have not taken your MME to the dealer?

Did the official Ford acct request any additional info on the phantom door alarms, or did they tell you to just take your MME to the dealer?

They just wanted my personal info, VIN, dealer name, my zip code….nothing of substance.

I have dealership appointment next Monday to get it diagnosed. I was glad to get it scheduled so quickly. I’ll post what they tell me!

For now, I select yes to turn off motion sensor, whenever I turn off the car. That seems to prevent any of the alarm issues. Also, it’s been rare now that I get the false notifications about door openings.

@SeaMustang, right, but having to manual disable sensor every time is a pain the butt, to me at least, the setting should be persisted, I really don't know why Ford won;t make this change.

Its probably two lines of code, if that that.

Checking the FordPass app, I see the alarm went off at 7:40am today, yep one of those 1st graders at my wife's elementary school probably trying to hot wire the car.

I'm very interested to see what your dealer does to resolve the issue as I;ve yet to see a report of a dealer doing an actual remove & replace that resolve the issue.

My dealer is still waiting on a TCU that is backordered with no timetable from @Ford Motor Company for delivery. As of next Thursday the car will qualify for lemon status in my state. The person I most recently spoke to at my dealership said if it were them they'd get the lemon process started.

The process that Ford has to fix these issues is comical and they really should be embarrassed. This message board is monitored by a social media team who hand the complaint off to a customer service team. Neither of those teams are engineering oriented so they can't do anything to help you.

The customer service team will only do what the dealership tells them to do. The dealership will only do what the engineers tell them to do. No one thinks to check the software apparently, they can't wrap their heads around it being anything other than a hardware issue.

In any case, I guess my time as a Mach E owner may be short lived. I'll be seeking a replacement/refund on my Mach E next week. Hopefully others on this thread have more luck than I do.

@emcross23 my dealer was apparently able to get a TCU in a couple of weeks, however, it doesn't seem like the car's problem (PAAK not working and no OTA updates) was related to a bad TCU since they replaced it and the problem perisists.

i do wonder if there's a software bug here or some kind of misconfiguration in the TCU that is causing this. other telematics were working fine, so the TCU could not have been totally dead which is what the initial diagnosis was.

It seems like there isn’t hardware that needs to be replaced but a simple 30 min software update. I’m waiting for a confirmation to post a solution here
Anthony have you found a specific solution/software module that needs replacing?

The fix for the door alarms going off is to update the door modules, not replace the TCU. I think your dealer is on the wrong track. This SSM just came out the other day, tell your dealer:

SSM 51292 - False Alarm Activation

I appreciate the tip, just curious…Who gave you this update?

If the Ford agent here isn’t offering any useful info, and the dealerships aren’t aware of how to solve the issue, I’m wondering who is providing this information or how they got it. I imagine dealership might ask me where this info came from as well.

Glad I’m on the forum and got this before I go to dealership on Monday. Thanks!

Thank you Anthony and Lee! My dealership is working on this as we speak, fingers crossed this does the trick.

Robert, the Ford rep on here is on their social media team so getting into the engineering details is not something they'd do. For what it's worth, my dealership didn't care where I got the info. If you just tell them to use/check SSM 51292 as the solution they will see it on their end from an official Ford channel. It just came out on the 11th, my dealership service department said they hadn't seen it yet but started the software patch as soon as they checked.
