So at work there's free charging and I have no issues using DC charger but the standard charging the estimate charge times are ridiculous.

My app will say 20 hours to full from 74% according to Ford pass app.

Am I just too impatient and need to let it sit for a while to recalculate?

Or the level 2 machine here is just on the low amperage side?

The estimate is often off for me but never this much. If the charger has current/power display you can check whether it's expected value. Or you can wait a while and see what percentage it gets to manually calculate when it can reach 100%.

Did some quick math. Assuming you have a 70kwh battery standard in the 2022, at 74% charge you have roughly 51.8kw. 74-100% would be attaining 18.2kw.

18.2kw in 20hrs give you a charge rate of .91kw/hr (2.32mi/hr) which means you're likely on a 110v 20a circuit on that charger (Level 1).

Edit: What does the charger look like? Does it have a watt rating on the front? Who makes it?

Basically, most work places that offer free charging will install L1 equivalent chargers since they don't want you to "abuse" it by getting free "full tank of gas". Just enough charging to get you back home. So if you get 3 mi/hr charging, in a full work day, it should be 25-30 mi added to your car.

Yes, this is 100% correct.

My work place has multiple locations - main office building has decent 48A - 11kW L2 while at my satellite locations have 4kW chargers.

I have issues with all sorts of time zone problems in the app. Duration estimate weirdness, charge logs from clock times I wasn't charging, etc.

Rob, I struggled with this at first as well. The idea of Level 1, 2, 3 charging makes it sound like there is a standard but its all about how many amps the charger has.
Level 2 chargers get even more complicated when they share. The one at my wife work charges at 40amps when just one person is on but drops down to 20amps when 2 people are on it whereas the one at my work is 80amps and when one person is on I get 60 but when two people are on we both get 40.
I ended up buying a Bluetooth code reader so I could plugin and see what each charger put out. Helped me better understand the various chargers I use. Plus I am much better at picking a charger now at work now that I know this. Plug next to the PHEV's vs the teslas because once the small battery in the PHEV is done I can charge at full speed the rest of the day.

Post #4 is what I got and post #9 is what I see

Yeah you’re only charging at about 2kW so that’s a low amperage charger. Could be a shared/throttled system. My home charger is 9.6 kW for comparison.

Well there’s your issue. At most, a 4kW charge won’t put more than 4kWh of juice in your battery in an hour. 20 hours to get 80kWh. Realistically, you won’t get the full 4kW, so the calculation makes sense.
