Hi Guys,

I set my preferred departure time for 4:15am and set my preferred charge time from 11pm to 7am.

I got home tonight (7pm) with about a 45% state of charge. I plugged in and the MME automatically starts charging, despite me setting the car to not charge until 11pm.

Is this a glitch? I told it to stop charging and it stopped for about 2 minutes but then resumed. It still shows a scheduled departure of 4:15am. What gives?

edit: the only thing I can think is maybe the MME did the math and calculated it would need to start charging immediately if it was to have a 90% by 4:15am? Still, 9 hrs on a chargepoint home flex to gain roughly 45% of a charge seems like a really long time

Yes, it figures it wouldn't be done so it starts immediately. Depending on the amp setting.

It will charge long enough until it figures it can finish the job from 11 pm to 4:15 am. When it reaches that point then it stops charging and waits for the schedule to arrive.

Why are you setting the departure time for 4:15? You should set it as close to your actual departure time as possible. If you're worried about on-peak usage, set it to 6:45 then so it shuts off at 7. It will start early so the car is ready at the scheduled time.

If you know the car won't finish in the 8 hour period, then drop the charge limit down to a lower % so it doesn't charge outside of the window.

Sounds like a circuit issue. I have a HomeFlex on a 50A circuit using the NEMA 14-50 plug, which limits me to 38A, and I was able to load 67.4 kWh in 8 hours last night.

As for the preferred start time, I gave up trying to use the FordPass app, it's unreliable, imho. I strictly use the Chargepoint app to set the preferred charge times, and just set the FordPass app for the stop SOC.

What kW rate is your car charging at? You can check the rate on your ChargePoint App. Only reason I ask that is I messed up setting mine up and it went to its default setting slightly under 4 kW. I realized this from reading someone else’s post with this issue and checked mine and sure enough I had messed up. Re-initialized my ChargePoint and now at 9 kW as it should be.
