Mine has been struggling the last few weeks as well, I am on the beta app and have taken a few updates but still it persists. I think it is Android 17 related and that they are actively working on it.

Incorrect, most users remain on Android 16, as I am with my Samsung S24+.

Android 17 isn't even available mainstream for all programming apps at the moment, especially if you do development through React Native or .Net MAUI. I have an app I develop for Android that I literally just updated to 16 this morning, as 16 just became available for .Net framework 10 recently. The stable version of 17 just came out last month, and most places wait a little while to convert because it takes a little while to determine what has changed and what needs updated in your app before changing, and a month (especially for a company the size of Ford) isn't long enough to vet the changes.

ETA: Although, now that I think about it, definitely check to see if your phone is on 17. It might be due to the app still targeting 16, which could mean some functions might not work properly until it has a new version published for 17.

My Pixel 10 updated to Android 17 last week. Ford app works fine for my Lightning and Mach-e, no problems.

On a whim, I went into my Google Password Manager...
I had 5 different account over the years to various Ford sites (ETIS, Login,etc.)
I cleaned all of these to go down to my current PW and the Passkey. Restarted my phone, and the Ford app opened right up using saved credentials...
Did a full power-off/restart, and, again, the Ford app opened right up using saved credentials...
EAP sign-in worked as well...
Might be worth a look...

password managers (Google, Edge, etc) in Android are only applied with user interaction. They will not automatically work in the background to login an account for an application.

Another factor must be in play for your Ford App installation working correctly or not enough time has passed for it to sign-out/freeze again.

I found the android app pretty slow to load and refresh.

Appreciate this isn't exactly related to your post but in case anyone else gets fed up.....


There is a Ford integration for Homeassistant - if you are smart home nerdy you can add widgets to your android home screen to turn on climate or show any vehicle data right on the home screen without having to log in to an app or wait for it load up and refresh.

There is a Ford integration for Homeassistant

Risky... Ford hasn't opened the API to external clients and at any moment may lock your Ford account for an unauthorised source.

I've avoided this set-up for a very real fear.

You can create an extra driver and match it to that so your main account wouldn't get blocked if that were to happen.
But personal experience - I've been using it for a couple of years or so with no drama at all and the additional features it gives is worth it IMHO.
(The current version uses a totally different method of getting the data than the old fordpass integration did by the way)

Had the same issue where had to sign-in everytime on version 6.16.0. Had to uninstall/reinstall from Google store and it installed version 6.15.0 and it fixed the sign-in issue. I also cleared cache and data before the uninstall to no success.
