Bottom Line: it’s a Boolean value in the routing logic. There’s an IF statement that, in pseudo code is like “IF plug compatible.” In 2025 and later, you can express in a global setting that you are compatible with NACs/non magic dock stations because you have the adapter. All cars know they are compatible with CCS1 (North America is our scope here).

So, the charging station DB exists in the cloud and is updated to your vehicle if you have connected navigation. That station DB knows if stations are CCS (including magic dock) or NACs only. I’m aware of Tesla only sites but setting them aside. However, in 2024 and earlier, the IF statement can’t know if you have an adapter because there’s no global setting. In normal routing, where the system is adding stops for you, it skips all the NACs only sites because the logic fails the IF statement. As Charge_Rob says, that’s by design. They don’t want to route you to a place where you get stuck.

I suspect that @music_cities trick works because he’s skipping the IF statement, literally. I’m guessing that if you ran a trace, you’d see that direct navigation to the supercharger, you’d see that it skips the IF statement. It knows that you’re heading to a supercharger because the database is correct, and because it doesn’t calculate intermediate stations, it never checks compatibility.

@music_cities is exploiting a bug and I love it. Someone forgot to make Connected Navigation check compatibility with the IF statement in the case of direct navigation. The trick exploits the error to make Connected Navigation treat the Supercharger as always compatible.

Can I prove it? No, but it follows from what we know, and I have been to enough rodeos that I can imagine the backlog grooming where someone says, “We discovered a bug where direct navigation to a NACs site skips the IF statement.” And the group agrees that it’s not worth fixing.

That explains why the nearest Supercharger to me doesn't show, but others do! (I have a '25)
I also noted that they are buried if you use the default sort order, you want to sort by distance to make any real sense.
I rarely noticed this as I typically go to a Ford/Shell system or EA.

Correct. However you can't search for a Tesla as a "Charger", you just have to search for it as a regular POI, like you would search for a museum, cafe, or tannery. Until you get the BIG SYNC UPDATE it doesn't show up in the charger search.

How Add Preferred Charging Networks in Connected Navigation?

I'm following up on the post by @Jimrpa How Do You Specify Preferred Charging Networks in Ford Navigation? | 23 June 2024

With the Software Update 12 series of ECG, TCU, and APIM I no longer have to use the POI workaround and can now see and plan routes with Tesla Superchargers in the native nav after toggling Fast Charging Adapter needed.

Question: is it possible to add Preferred Charging Networks in Connected Navigation? In the Navigation settings is a screen with "Preferred Charging Networks" and "+ Add Preferred Network." But there is no list to choose from and selecting + Add Preferred Network and then manually typing an entry does not bring up any list. (see attached screenshot)

I realize it is possible to add Tesla Superchargers as a preferred network in Apple Maps. But what about in Connected Navigation?

Not aware of any way to add preferred networks in connected nav, but are you saying you now have the adapter toggle and the ability to route to superchargers (without the nearby poi hack)? If so what model year?

Hi, yes. 2021 Job 1. SYNC/APIM completed successfully on 5 July after getting the ECG update on 10 June and TCU on 2 July. Each of those modules of "Software Update 12" have a thread as does the overall package.
