Another Powertrain Malfunction / Reduce Power...

So after a month with my GT back (from the HVJB replacement) yesterday I got a warnign on the Car and a message "Powertrain Malfunction / Reduce Power"

Will take it to the dealer today or tomorrow but have seen a couple of other people with these errors recently while searching on the forum, so was just wondering if anybody has had theirs fixed and what was it.

My car is a GT so no OTA updates but I do believe they updated some modules during the HVJB replacement)

Would you be willing to send me your VIN? I'd really like to see if they did do updates after the replacement. We just had a few new battery related updates this past week appear on FDRS that we speculate is to help prevent this problem.

I think we really ought to see if they did the new FDRS module updates to the car of @MadManMoon who just got his Job 2 GTPE back today.

You might want to get an OBD-II reader and find out what diagnostic codes the car generated. Certainly sounds like you should take your car to the dealer while you still can without a tow...

You just need to privately message @Neil4Real your VIN -- he obv has an annual FDRS license and he can plug in your VIN and find out what software updates Ford's server thinks have been done and what is available for your car that hasn't been updated.

There were a couple of battery-related and powertrain related updates for Job 2 cars that popped up earlier this week, and a couple of us have wishful thinking that these do something positive. But we have no idea, there's no TSB or other explanation of these updates.

I had the PTMF/RP error return after updates. Ford had to replace the gear shift module to fix the issue. ~5 months clear so far after the replacement.

Although as I read your service notes you posted in your thread, I don't think they updated anything except for BlueCruise-related ones. Which probably means the updates we've seen don't address stop safely now at all, or else they're not procedurally included (yet) in the pinpoint diagnostic procedures the dealers follow to fix this.

Not sure how accurate the repair order is, but my tech mentioned that starting the BlueCruise update triggered a bunch of other module updates, include BECM and several others.

I'm taking a long trip tomorrow and will see if my charging curve keeps up after 80% while on DCFC.

Did the car drive differently at all? I had this message a couple times this week but it was simply that the car thought the power button was stuck. Maybe I held it down too long. The car drove fine and the message cleared after a couple hours.

I checked @MadManMoon's car out on FDRS and they did actually apply all the updates that came out on Tuesday. The only updates he has remaining are a few cruise control ones, HVAC and RFA. So I would assume that Ford advised the dealer to apply these rather than them wanting to just do them, especially since they obviously left other updates undone.

That's promising, I'd definitely take your car in and ask them to first apply the updates at the link below before they do the super long process of contacting Ford, etc.

@JcMarin Thanks for sending your VIN. They did NO updates after replacement. I'd have thought that maybe the updates we got on Tuesday were still being applied to cars that had this work done a while ago, they just didn't make it fully available in FDRS until now. You have all of the below updates available. I'd try and get back to your dealer and see if they can apply these to resolve the problem without having to go through the process again.

They really only need to do the updates mentioned in the below link, the others don't seem to be relevant to the Stop Safely Now problem, as I mentioned in a previous post. These updates only take about 15 minutes, if that, so hopefully you can just tell your service advisor to help you out and get you in quick for them instead of having to be without your car for a while, if these do in fact fix the problem.

I would just note that we have absolutely no idea whether any of these Job 2-specific updates do anything to mitigate or address the HVBJB issues. Also, the updates aren't for 2022 cars, or Job 1 cars, and we can see from the survey that both are also suffering from the same design defect.
