So, your friendly neighborhood Dimwit was happily driving home from work today, when the bed was suddenly full of feces. In traffic, I was attempting to pass slower traffic (they were doing 30 in a 50) and as a clearing appeared, I hit the accelerator and changed lanes. But, there was no power when I hit the go pedal, in fact there was a total loss of power. This made me sad, then it made me frightened because the opening I was attempting to take advantage of was somewhat less than infinite. I was able to get the car into the left turn lane and come to a safe stop so I could read the message that said I had a powertrain malfunction, and had a pretty orange wrench on my ICP, so I did what 40 years of computers has taught me, and rebooted the car. The orange wrench was persistent, but the car drove normally back home.
when I got home, I did what any normal person would do, I called the service department. When I informed the service advisor that I would be needing to take advantage of the premium warranty with rental coverage while they had the car, we had a short debate that ended with him asking for a few minutes to call their rental supplier and his boss to come up with a plan.
I took advantage of this break to go out to the car, intending to disconnect the q2v battery for a few minutes to see if that would help. Before popping the hood, I decided to see if sitting for 10 minutes had helped and started the car.it came up normally, with no orange wrench. My service advi called me back to tell me that the rental company can’t get them a vehicle until Monday around noon. I told him I would be there, and that the issue seems to have cleared once the car sat. He went to their connected car system and was able to see a ton of faults that all happened at the same time, so I asked him to email me that list.
I am going to attempt to drive the car to work in the morning, and then hopefully back home tomorrow afternoon, and he is going to reach out to his lead EV tech (who had today off), and we will see where things go from there. I am hopeful that it was just a fluke issue, but with all the OTA updates I had to get BlueCruise running, who knows.
