If there is going to be a refresh, we likely won't hear about it until September at the earliest.

I am waiting for the new EV platform that Ford announced with a lower priced mid sized EV truck.

Would love a Ranger EV instead of the Lightning EV that I ended up trading in....

The silence is deafening. I believe if there is a next gen Mach-E, it will be based on the new platform. The best we can hope for is the current model with refreshes continues for a few years.

We are a loyal niche of owners that Ford has cultivated and does not want to lose. However, Ford is losing money on this car because it is a really great value and they expected to scale it up to large volumes. They will need us to buy the next gen when it comes out. This means they will need to transition the Mach-E over to that platform because we are the buyers who are going to help buoy the ship.

What Ford should do now is announce their plans as soon as possible. There are plenty of new EVs coming out later this year and I’m always looking. But I really like my car., and if I knew there was a path forward, I might stick it out.

I have this gut feeling that the MachE will be discontinued. I’ve been exploring my options when my 2023 lease ends in July, and I must say the dealerships in Monmouth County New Jersey, have no interest in the car. They’d rather sell Broncos.

I agree with everyone who is saying “not until UEV”

https://insideevs.com/news/791797/ford-affordable-tesla-model-3-model-y-rival-ceo/

If I read the situation right: the Mach-e is today’s “model y competitor” (aka “EV wagon/fastback). The next EV Wagon/Fastback will be on the UEV platform. Yes, truck first - Ford has been very clear about that - but I suspect that sedan and wagon/fastback will be a fast follow.

If I were in charge of Ford (I’m not), I would 💯 leave the current generation alone until I can get it on a new platform.

Maybe Ford will call it a “Mach-e” maybe they’ll call it the “Escape EV” or “Edge EV” (who knows?). But I’d bet a donut that we might see tweaks, but there won’t be anything “Major” until the UEV is released. If that’s a 2027 model, then awesome! But the timeline seems to say 2028 at the earliest.

Well, they HAVE discontinued both the Escape (recently) and the Edge (a few years ago), so both names have formally "freed" up for use with the next-gen UEV platform. :)

The Pinto and Neighbor brands are also waiting on the sidelines and ready to be back in the spotlight. 🤪

One promise that never made it to fruition was the move to Android Automotive, which could be seen as a bellwether for Ford's plans for the Mach-E if one wants to see things in a certain way.

Personally, I'm pretty happy with Sync 4A, but then I've been conditioned by Ford to expect less and see 4A as being better than what came before it. I'm not really bothered by the reaction time of the menus, but the nav system could use a shot of ambition. (But compared to the nav system in my 2015 Explorer, it's much better)

I don't see any major changes ahead for the Mach-E until UEV comes out. The agreement with Tesla may force a J3400 charging upgrade in 2027, but that wouldn't affect my 2025, and it wouldn't even be a big factor in a future purchase.

I would love for there to be a 2nd gen Mach-E, but I wonder about that. Ford's focus on the truck platform over the SUV platform is odd to me, and I wonder if it doesn't show some marketing trend that I'm not aware of. Maybe they're just so impressed with the response to the Maverick, that they want to strike while that iron is still hot.

My guess is that there is a higher likelihood of a Ford EV version of the Lincoln Nautilus, built on the UEV platform. The edge-to-edge display is quite nice, and the form factor matches the small-to-midsize SUV trend that I think still has the majority of people's attention. If the Nautilus was available as a full EV, I don't think there would be a reason for the Mach-E (unless, of course, the Ford version of the Nautilus would be the 2nd gen Mach-E, which I think is unlikely).

Except for better/improved software, there isn't anything I can think of that a refresh would bring. It's not like they're going to redesign the door panels to give us real door handles, right?

Love the wagons. I would buy a thing called a Rall-e in wagon form, but without the portal window 😂🛳.

I would put a Wall-e sticker on it.

Ford said in 2023 that beginning in 2025 they would equip vehicles with the NACS ports. They did not.

#456 on the list of failed promises.
correction - they said they would equip NEW models after 2025 with NACS. No new models yet, so no failed promise yet.

My current guess is the next change will be CCS1 -> NACS, but I expect that will not happen soon. I already have the adapters, so I am not that concerned.

The next change would be improved capacity and charging, but that will require significant redesign.

That is, unfortunately, fairly common. Too many dealer’s don't like change and don’t like anything that doesn’t drive more business into the service department. this is one reason that think the current dealership model needs to end nationwide.

I think they said the UEV based truck will enter production in 2027. My inherently suspicious mind takes that as a 2028 model year. I’ve been known to be wrong though — just ask my cat, or pretty much anyone on the forum. :)

The Mach-e outsells even the regular Mustang, it's not going anywhere. There is every reason to believe that it will be updated and incorporated into the UEV platform.
