Anyone use Quick 220

For temporary use, has anyone used a Quick 220 box wherein you can use two different 110 outlets to create one 240 volt receptable? (NEMA 6-20R).

Might be something that can be used to boost the amount of power going into the Mach-E?

There was a thread last year about this concept. You can also build one, if you know what you’re doing.

It’s a cool idea and could work if you know how to safely avoid pitfalls. Should be able to pull 12A at 240V or about twice the power of L1 charging.

I do not like those boxes, they are inherently dangerous since they do not work with GFCI. Many garages also do not have two separate 120V circuits on separate phases, so it wouldn't work anyway. You can't just plug it into any two outlets.

I strongly suggest you save your money and put it into a proper 240V receptacle install.

To make this work you have to find two outlets that are on opposite legs of the 220 coming into your house so that they are out of phase and located no more than 12 feet apart. Presuming this is convenient to where your car is located, you are then limited by the lesser of the current capacity of the input circuits.

in short (no pun intended) this is almost sure to be more trouble than just putting a properly sized 240 circuit in.
