That warning message is very common here in the Valley.
AFAIK, no one has figured out an exact temp that triggers it.
City or highway driving doesn't seem to matter.
I always use departure times or remote start to get the cabin comfortable before a drive. Being able to start/run the car in the garage is one of my favorite things about having an EV.
I live in Arizona we had the car for two weeks, and had that message a couple times telling me to plug it in when not in use. what do you do, if your not able to plug it in. i can't get an answer from ford or the Dealership. i been plugging it in when i get home and crack the garage door and the side door for air to circulate. not sure what else to do.

I don't worry about it.

The message should say "Plug in if you are able to do so. If not, don't sweat it" (excuse the pun...)
:)

Yea, as above,. If you can plug in, do so, if you can't (such as parking away from home on one of our wonderful 112F+ days) then don't. If you do not or cannot plug in, the car will use battery power to maintain battery temperature. If you can plug in, then it will pull that power from the wall.
The warning seems to come on when ambient is above 110, although I cannot say that is consistent.

I don't think that is correct. The Mach-E will not cool the HVB when parked off plug. No matter how hot it gets.

(Unless you have a departure time set with the allow start when unplugged enabled in FP)

OK, I may be wrong of course. But I can tell you I have heard the car sitting in a hot parking lot with fans running and with no action from me - and I never use departure times.

When was your car built?

How do I tell? Here is the only thing that looks like a probable build date on the window sticker:

Ford Mustang Mach-E Arizona Heat 1656170291761

Does that mean 5-11-21? I took possession on July 3, 2021.
That sounds about right.
We have 3 Mach-Es in the family and I know many others here in the valley and none of them have cooled the battery while parked off plug. Not sure why your car is different? But we do know all our cars are different in how they behave. No two alike it seems......

And Like I said I could be completely wrong in my assumptions (and it is assumption) and what I've heard has nothing to do with cooling the battery. All I know is when I get the high temperature warning I ignore it if I'm out and about and I make suire to plug in when I'm home. :)

There appears to be 3 basic levels of thermal management.
1. Pumps
2. Pumps and electric fan(s)
3. Pumps, fans and compressor

It will be pretty easy to tell if #2 or #3 is happening because it makes a ton of noise and the louvers are opened.
#1 is harder to observe because the pumps are so quiet. It you place your hand on the top of the right fender just behind the headlamp, you will feel the pumps circulating the fluid through the system. The vibrations seem to make it to that part of the car for whatever reason....

I have had the warning several times and just ignored it. I guess I should plug it in when home. My external temperature indicator always reads about five degrees warmer than the actual temperature. yesterday it was reading 125 degrees.

Have not used Ford Navigation yet, but will it, and the GOM, adjust for high temps? During this short drive the temp was 110.
