I've been driving MME for a month and noticed if there is the slightest contact with water, water drops forms on the backup camera and stays there forever.
For example, I drove to slight rain yesterday and left the car in the garage. In the morning it was 95% dry, but the camera are not.
I have two cars with backup cameras, and non of them have this problem.
Bad design?

This is a new feature Ford worked on for years before rolling it out. The camera lens is coated in a proprietary hydrophilic coating which works to better attract water to the surface and fight the issue of runoff. It’s a game changer in the automotive industry and they have already secured multiple patents on the coating.

In all seriousness, I’ve seen this with every car camera I’ve ever had. Put some rainX on it and it will help.

I mean it's all fun, but I've never had so many problems with my BMW X5 backup camera. I rarely have to clean it, unless it is really dirty.
I would imagine, as an engineer, different designs of backup camera ( lens shape, location) can be more susceptible to collecting water drops. So just wanted to ask other folks here.
I'll give RainX a try.

RainX or something similar as mentioned. It solved the issue on mine.
