I apologize if this has been already discussed, I searched, but couldn't find anything appropriate.

After the recent discussion about PAAK, I decided to verify that mine was set up correctly. I did everything when I got the car 4 years ago and I wanted to make sure. When I went to the Backup Start Passcode in the car, after a few seconds it fails telling me it doesn't find a device set up as PAAK. I checked the app on my phone and it claims it's set up and in fact I can interact with the car from there (done so many times over the years), I can even start the car without the FOB (although some times it takes a few seconds to recognize the phone). I checked the phone list in the car settings and it shows up and is connected. Tried to disconnect and reconnect to no avail.

Anyone know of a way to debug this ?

I have an iPhone with iOS 18.5.

Thanks,

IIRC, you can only add a backup passcode during PAAK setup (not later). If you skipped it, then you’ll have to delete the phone key and start setup over again.

Ahh, didn't realize that. I guess I forgot to do that 4 years ago.

My next step was to reset and start anew, but wanted to see if there was some other way. I guess I don't have a choice.

Thanks,

I recently set up a new PAAK and did not set up the backup passcode when requested. Weeks later I could make a new backup passcode by going into the sync 4 menu.

@Jtbuster is correct. You can add one.

I doesn't let me do it. I'm planning to get a new phone in the next couple of months, when I set up the new phone I'll make sure to set the backup code.
