If you charge at home nightly, you will almost never need to public charge. I drive up to 200 miles a day and have only fast charged twice: once to see how Plug and Charge worked, and once to test the Tesla adapter.
You really, really have to work hard to drain the HV battery all the way to dead.
You’ll have to ignore all the “charge soon” warnings and charger suggestions, take the battery to 0%, range to 0 miles and ignore the “Battery Depleted” warning.
A couple miles after that warning, you’ll go into “limp mode” with a turtle icon, cutting max power to maybe 60mph. After that, the car will cut power to the HVAC in a last-ditch effort to get you to a charger.
Finally, about 10 miles after you got the first “stop safely” warning, it will just shut down.

Here’s a video that shows the whole process:

If you put your destination in the Apple Maps or Ford Nav, it will let you know if you’ll need to stop and charge. It won’t always recommend the *best* charger for your plans - but it will put you on notice.

Enjoy your Mach-E!

Wondering if any of those on this forum are as paranoid as I am and want to have a backup battery in the MME to get a few more miles if the HV battery goes to zero SOC? Would only want it to get me to a charging station or 110 outlet. I see videos for EcoFlo, Bluetti, Anker, etc so it clearly can be done, but I wonder who has implemented a solution and carry it with them hoping to never need it?
I honestly see no need, there are plenty of apps that can give you locations on a charger. You just have to think more strategically than you would with an ICE vehicle. Even here in rural Maine there are plenty of chargers to avoid running out of battery.
