Interested in the reason why pulling the fuses in the car would cause an app feature to start working? Weirdly although fordpass is slow it's the only feature that dosen't work for me, despite other's complaints about PaaK never had a problem there.
Because the software glitches and won’t let you add a new phone in addition to performing poorly. Pulling the fuse is sometimes the only way to reset it so it will pair with a new phone.

While on a road trip recently, Ford's navigation was behaving very oddly (telling me to get off at every exit only to get back on immediately, for one example; Sync would freeze and require a reboot for another). So I turned it off and turned on Google Maps / Android Auto. I forgot to swap back to Ford's navigation for preconditioning before the 20-ish miles from the DCFC charger. When I was about 10 miles from the charger, I glanced at my CarScanner dashboard and noticed that the battery temperature was up around 27 C, the battery heater was running at around 6 kW, and etc. Then I heard Google's voice giving me directions...

I haven't had a chance to confirm, but one of (at least) two things seems to have been going on: 1) Ford's navigation stayed running as a zombie process even though I canceled it and spun up Google Maps or 2) Ford is talking to Android Auto to get destination information regardless of which navigation app is running and is preconditioning the battery even if Ford isn't the navigation app of choice.

I need to do some additional testing before I'll know. It sure would be nice to have a proper navigation app that also tells Ford to precondition the Mustang's battery.

Hmm, what's your software level? My guess it was still running in the background but we definitely should test.

4.2.2

That's my guess too.

Sync has been weird and flakey lately and it sure would be nice if I could just use Google Maps for the entire route. I probably won't have a chance to test this until next weekend at the earliest.

So I just tried on my car but it didn’t work (I have an iPhone however). Navigated to charger with Ford Nav, battery coolant pump started. Then I opened CarPlay and navigated to the same charger with Google maps. As soon as I hit GO the coolant pump stopped. Also tried with Apple Maps and same thing happened. I noticed when you switch to routing on your phone the miles to destination disappears from the instrument cluster. I don’t think the car knows how far you are from the destination when you use CarPlay, just the distance to the next turn, so it can’t use that for preconditioning.

Unless Android Auto works differently, I think you just experienced a bug where the Nav froze?

I think you're probably right.
Sometimes, but only rarely, I get the next navigation step and miles to destination on the instrument cluster when I've only been running Google Maps. This is available about once every ten or twenty attempts. It's not reliable at all.
