There is an old Irish saying that goes something like this: If everybody tells you that you are drunk, then it's time to sit down. Everybody here is telling you that it's a combination of the cold and the lack of accuracy of the GOM, yet you say they are all wrong.....
Wait, are we supposed to be drinking right now?

I've had my extended range AWD since May and it has pretty consistently shown a range between 250-265 miles at 100% until recently when it dropped to around 205 - 220 miles. I received the same long winded explanation above from my local dealer for why my range has suddenly dropped. I'm in Oklahoma and we've had above normal temperatures all fall including this weekend which reached 80 - Sorry, but I'm not buying that the winter weather is the cause for the so called guess-o-meter to be that far off, something else is wrong. I have a deposit in for a Lightning but am really doubtful of their latest range estimates based on my experience with a much smaller vehicle than an F150, certainly if towing or hauling.
FYI, I have a regular range select and in the last month I’ve seen anywhere from 215-180 miles at 85% charge. My commute is fairly consistant and I use 30-32% battery with every trip no matter what the GOM says. My advice is stop checking range because it doesn’t mean anything.

Cancel your Lightning reservation. Sell your Mach-e. Replace those vehicles with ICE cars. There’s nothing wrong with your MME, cash in while the market is hot. You’re not ready for a BEV vehicle anytime soon.

But maybe we can help him get ready. The guess o meter is bogus, and I never use it.

One trick I do is check miles per kw. If the trip displays 3.1 miles then you will get 270 range. If it does not then you won't.

If it is not, are you going uphill? If so this uses more power, should slow down.

Are you going 75 or 80 or more? Try dropping your speed by 5mph, and you the number will go up.

Still want to raise that number? Unfortunately this means that you will have to disable climate control.

Now to calculate range you can do a better job than the gom. 30% left and doing 3.1? You have about 75 miles of range left (270/10 to get 27, 25*3 to make an easy estimate). The maths gets hard to do mentally but if you are keeping that 3.1 miles then you are getting advertised range.

It's definitely a lot to think about. But if you can get used to it hopefully that helps the transition to BEV. It is unfortunate that you have to do this mental math. But the GOM is not going to factor in a human seeing 2.8 miles per kw and that human dropping 5mph for an hour. It doesn't know how you will react so the GOM isn't that helpful all of the time.

I live about 2,000 feet above. I drive 20 miles down and lost 1 percent battery. I go back up and I lose 9 percent battery. The GOM gets confused and even in the summer I was getting 220 at 100 percent. So the number I look at is miles per kw if it's 3.1 I'm getting the range. Hope this helps!

Perhaps. The person I replied to was not the OP of this thread though. The OP lacked knowledge and asked a couple of questions and got a boatload of answers and links. The Perron I responded to doesn’t believe his dealer’s explanation for the decreased range indication (Kuddos to the dealer for trying btw), doesn’t believe it’s cooler weather and thinks something is wrong with their car.

But go for it, digital space is cheap. ;)

Last night I charged my car to 90% and it showed 184 miles of range available.

This morning it is about 25 degrees colder, and the car (still at 90%) shows 178 miles of range.

This ain't rocket science.

You’re obviously missing my point, from May to November I was getting a pretty consistent range that significantly changed in early December even though my local weather has stayed warm. I’m saying there is something else at play here, I’m guessing some tweaking by Ford in an OTA update.

I didn’t miss your point at all. Good luck with that.

Yes, Ford did an OTA update because they want to show there is a conspiracy to reduce range tied to the effort of promoting an alternate reality.

I can't believe I am taking the bait, but here goes: what is the average temperature in Norman in December? What is the average temperature in June? Is there a difference? Does it happen to be colder in December than in June? When you answer those questions, you will have the answer to why your GOM is estimating a lower range.

And you have ABSOLUTELY missed the point that the range displayed by the guess-o-meter has very little to do with the range you ACTUALLY can/will/do achieve.

I'm done trying to work it through with you.
