When I plug in the charger, sometimes I just get white lights on the charge indicator circle.

Remove and reinsert, it charges normally. It never takes a third try but often takes two tries.

Is the charger bad or the charge port module bad hardware or software wise is what I’m trying to find out before I reach out to the service center.

Can't tell from your post. What charger are you using? Sometimes chargers get contacted by the car, think about it, and then kick in say a minute or two later.

When my port went bad, I had the same white lights, but they never changed to blue no matter how many attempts or how long I let the charger stay in the port. I did get red lights and a charging error message first, then the white lights only for every attempt after that.

Dealer said it was a "bent charge sense pin". Everything looked normal to me when I dropped it off so I can't confirm or deny that was the problem.

With your intermittent problem, I would take a look at the pins on the car and your EVSE connector for wear or if something doesn't look right, it could really be caused by either side (car or EVSE).

@Mach-Lee has a few posts around here about charging port issues. Here's one that may help your diagnosis journey:

I am experiencing some of this - it may be me, the car, the charger, the iPhone, the newly changed Wi-Fi in the condo garage, Blue Tooth (prime suspect). Anyway, if I got in the car and turned Blue Tooth off and then on it seemed to work. I do not know if that is what 'fixed' it.

Thanks.

I have never once gotten any red lights on the charging ring. And like I said before, if it doesn’t charge on the first attempt it starts on the second attempt 100% times. And when it starts charging it charges without any interruption.

I have a ShockFlo charger. I also have Ford’s provided charger but that shows red lights on the charger itself (known issue) so I basically have just kept that charger in the car trunk for emergencies when I’m on the road.
