I perused the threads and maybe I'm impatient, but I did not see anything straightforward about home charging stations that are popular with MME owners. I just got my Mach E, my first EV, and I LOVE it so far. Haven't even charged it yet! Would love to know what others have used as a home charging station. I want to install a level 2 but so many options. Any advice/recs appreciated!

I went with the Emporia charger as it was at least $100 cheaper than the competitors. I think it ran $399 when I bought it. Haven't had to think about it since install. Provides 40amps (can go up to 50 if you wire it for it). I've used it for about 6 months and my daughter uses it for her Tesla when she stays with us. Been solid and it give me extra data that the Ford mobile charger didn't in case I want to geek out.

I think the reason you didn't see anything specific is because they are all based on an individuals needs, wants and desires.

For example:

Do you want something that will have an app (internet connected)?
Do you want something that uses NACS?
Do you want something that is cheap?
Do you want something that will integrate with Home Assistant?
Do you want something that you can set a schedule for?
Do you want something that is OCPP?
Do you want something that can power share?
Do you want something that can be hardwired or plug in?
Do you want something that will integrate with a home energy system?

I think it would be best to start off with your budget and basic requirements or wants from the charger, otherwise you'll just get a bunch of people saying what they have. Many people have no idea why they even went with the one they did.

As others have mentioned, check State of Charge YouTube channel.
I just purchased an Emporia earlier this week. Thus far, it works well.

Tomorrow I will mount it on the wall. Wanted to confirm that it worked well, before mounting it...

Does your electric company offer a rebate for particular brands? If so, that’s often the deciding factor.

Otherwise, I echo what @DevSecOps said and the recommendation for Tom M’s videos.

I went with the Emporia based on all the reviews and it provides up to 48amps hardwired for a fraction of the price compared to competing brands. Good charger but there are other good options as well.
They also have this charger in black. I highly recommend checking out the State of Charge channel linked above. Very helpful info.
It’s also important to understand how many miles you will be driving daily (how much battery will need to be replenished), what is your budget, cost of install, rebates/programs from electrical company, etc.
These are all important factors to consider, as many people end up buying way more charger than they need. I include myself in that crowd, but I knew that before buying the charger.

Like Other members mentioned “Check with your utility co they may recommend a specific brand, I found out the hard way”. Now that I have the JCP&L recommend L2 charger I do get a small discount.

That makes a lot of sense. Thank you for these great questions I should research!

I recommend a basic, very robust Grizzl-E. I find I don't need Internet-connected EVSEs.

A consideration if you might be faced with two EVs someday soon: the Grizzl-E Duo has two really long cables you can use simultaneously for charging two EVs.
