My center screen has been failing to load intermittently (even preventing the backup cam from displaying). Today I remote started the car and the center screen failed to load and the AC was not working. When the screen was black I pushed the power “button” several times and it immediately opened to a diagnostic screen. Anyone know what triggers this screen and why it might be related to my screen staying black. This issue started after a couple updates 2-3weeks ago

Sounds like you discovered a diagnostics trigger that works while the screen is restarting.

The other way to get there is to bring up FM radio, then hold the steering wheel's volume down and prev track buttons for several seconds.

My screen has the intermittent freeze up and restart thing happening too, for several months now. I think it's due to faulty software, as it didn't do this prior to a few months ago. The freeze up usually happens within seconds of starting the vehicle if it's going to happen at all.

I will try to push the power button to get to that screen when my screen is blank next time.

You are not alone on the issue.

The blank screen also affect cross traffic alert even when the screen is back on. I was told by the dealership that it was no fix. They also told me to use sunshade (ridiculous) and tint the front windows (absurd).

Yeah that won't help at all. I've had several lockup experiences when starting the vehicle in my enclosed garage in the morning, and also after work where I do use a high quality sunshade in the open parking lot.

My screen has only gone black on startup. Although I’ve seen it go into a black/load screen/black/load screen cycle once. The volume/track reset doesn’t seem to work when it’s locked up either.
Im very close to disabling updates lol. These last couple ones had the descriptions of updates that had already been installed months ago. I didn’t get the typical software was updated screen either but maybe because it was frozen ?.

Ah, good info. Yeah, you and I are experiencing different problems. Mine freezes on whatever screen it happened to be at. A few times that was a black screen or part of the startup animation movie, but usually it's the map or whatnot. And for me the steering wheel reset works or I can wait a minute and it restarts by itself.

It's an overheating issue? It has been intensely hot in the past couple days and I had a blank screen for the first time. The screen was pretty hot to the touch. After driving around for a few minutes the screen popped back on.

In San Francisco?

Mine restarted when I left work yesterday but not today. Both days were hot and I was parked in the same place, orientation, etc. I think there's just software glitches but I'm not sure yet.

Also keep in mind, the display provides input/output, but I think the computer (Ford calls it the APIM) is located elsewhere, away from the display. The computer is what's restarting.

I had Ford replace my APIM at the beginning of the year because it was restarting in the middle of my drives sometimes during 2021 and 2022 summers... That did seem like it was maybe heat related, but this new issue where it locks up for a minute right after starting the vehicle seems "new," like since March or April-ish.

Not really. It also happened in the morning several times when car was in the garage. I was not happy when Ford told the dealership that there was no fix and the dealership who sold the care to me just did not car to take care of the problem.

Hey there. I can look into your Mach-E’s screen concerns on my end if you’d like. Will you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership info?

I started the other thread, I'm sorry to say @Ford Motor Company there is not much help or support for dealing with this from you. My dealership tool over a week this last time in and previously was in shop 4 days. So far they replaced the screen, sent it back, 1 day later it started going black and resetting. Dropped of the very next morning and took until Wed to get back. They replaced rear camera and "SW Module updates" time will tell if this works, but I'm done with OTA updates.

Are we sure it's not an overheating issue? Car was fine this morning and right now:

Display booted after running the car a couple minutes. Outside temperature says it's 93F (34C).

I don’t think so, 30-60 seconds isn’t enough for the screen to cool down. Mines also done it at 5am so It can’t be that hot lol.
