The '23 Select heated seats and wheel comes to mind as well.
my 23 select came with cold climate pkg lite included n/c. seats and steering wheel.
no subscription either. I had a period going back and forth between mme or model 3.
Its standard on the model 3, and what ford seem to be changing is the competitive difference between mme and tesla. was a really close decision, but heated seats not included with vinyl or leather seats would have been no go (cause canada) brr no mobile charger for free now either .. like tesla.

I agree with this. Everyone keeps saying BC is different because it's software and requires ongoing support and R&D and crap. Why? No one can really explain it much further than this. I haven't received a single BC improvement in the 14 months that I've owned this car. Had I been outside my trial window, I'd have spent over $900 for nothing.

And before you say "but BC 1.3 is coming", honestly the only thing I really want from 1.3 is for the car to stop ping ponging and hugging the right side of the lane. Those are bugs that I shouldn't have to deal with in the first place (much less pay $800/yr to fix them). It's hardly a justification for a subscription, certainly not $800/yr. I've never paid this high a subscription for software, and I have no idea why BC is so exceptional.
Thank you for distilling my thoughts exactly! A lot of people are far too quick to jump in defending whatever latest subscription trial balloon is getting floated.

I hear the same defences for app subscriptions like remote locking/unlocking. All the OEMs already deploy a cellular network anyway for data mining, OTAs, etc, and whatever miniscule few *bytes* of bandwidth are used to send an API request to "unlock this car" costs less than a $1 per month per user. Probably not more than 5-10k per month across all vehicles to run a Kubernetes cluster in AWS or GCP that just checks a request is authorized and relays it to the car. That's less than the coffee or printer paper budget for a single design center.

I believe it's only the Canada bound Selects that are getting the "Cold Climate" package. Unless the UK is as well?
