Is anybody putting protective body side moldings on their new Mach E's? The 3M adhesive kind that is the exact same color as your car.

You mean like a clear XPEL on the bumpouts? Or changing the black trim to body Color

My wife had those installed on her RAV4 by the dealer a few years ago and they have been great.

I've never used such things on any car I've owned. Given my skill with putting screen protectors on things, I think I'd screw it up royally.
They have templates and it's really easy to do. You can also have your detailer (or dealer) put them on when they apply the 3M protective paint film.

Does the car have black trim where they would go? I don't think so (at least in every picture I have seen; I'll check this out more closely). I'm suggesting the exact same color as your car where the molding bumps out. No PPF on the bumpouts (I DO have the 3M film applied to the hood, bumper, front fascia/grill and front side of mirrors).

I prefer the 3M product for paint protection film; cheaper and does the same job. And I also plan to have the body moldings put on at the same time. The cars are so new they don't even have the moldings yet.

I have such a film the dealer installed to protect the door dings when they are too close to a wall or another car etc. - invisible i.e. clear and no problems with them. I am not brave enough to try putting on myself, its not hard but I might need 3 sets , two I mess up and third I finally met get them right :)

I did not think about it but now that you mention it, I might put the door edge protecting film .

No clear 3M paint protection film on the bumpouts and I have the exact same paint on the moldings.

Forgot that - I have that done too (unless I get them from the Parts Department at the dealer - then I do it myself). I also put the Ford OEM film protector on the top of the bumper under the rear tailgate.

Why would you want to put that on the side of the car? Ford went to all the trouble of having such beautiful sheet metal with no door handles and you want to ruin that?
I understand the reason to do it, I just couldn't! ;)

EURO fords have optional door edge protectors, naturally with the way you open the doors on the mach-e someone is bound to catch fingers if these where added lol. Still with the front door gaining the trough as the way to open it ford could have at least added them to the front doors

To each his own. I happen to think it doesn't detract at all and even if it did in a small way, it's a small price to pay knowing that the "beautiful sheet metal" stays that way! I've protected all my current cars with these (Lincoln MKS, Ford Fusion Platinum Hybrid, 2-Acura MDX's, Lexus RX 300, and 2-Toyota Priuses). The only car I didn't do was my beloved 2002 Ford Thunderbird Premium "Illinibird". This car never went out or was parked unattended (a real "Garage Queen"). I also paid to have it stored over the winter.

The only dings to the side of the doors were from stored bicycles (they were promptly moved), shopping carts that people weren't monitoring and intentional dings from kids who think it's funny. The protective side moldings (by a huge margin) had all the other dings! ?
