I’m hopping on this train. This is a mistake that needs to be fixed on several levels.

1. I don’t have the Mach-E I saw in the commercials and Ford videos I watched. This is a Mustang. Quite frankly, the driver display is one of the things that sets it apart. That display needs to be an emotional experience. The little color swatches in the upper left and upper right of the driver display are invisible to me. They are behind the steering wheel in my line of sight. So my experience is the Parenthesis Car. 99% of the time, that is what I experience. Very utilitarian. Sterile. I won’t go on, you get my point.

2. This appears to be a bigger problem with the level of heavy-handed safety features. Thing is, I like their existence, but not the interaction. The number of times I have to acknowledge an event with kid’s getting in and out of the car is a bit much. I like the message, but it needs to be part of the screen, not all of it. And I’m driving…I don’t want to press OK. For this driver aid specifically, it needs to have a stage with the main experience being that of the car. In other words, I want to see the car animation as a MUCH smaller piece of the driver information screen.

3. The only time the car animation should take center screen is when you are in full BC. When you are in that mode, BC is the experience and it should take center stage. In fact, I want to see what it thinks it sees more than I do.

First of all I was joking ...

But there's actually a lot of people who are really pissed off about this change. Personally, I always drove with the version that they are complaining about so, to me at least, I could care less.
Wait. You also don’t have the car anymore ?. But I agree. I always had the ugly display on anyway, so no change for me.

Send in feedback with the audio feedback. I started sending them as soon as I found out it changed in the 2023s, I figured it was only a matter of time before that update got pushed to everyone else.

They need to fix this.

I’ve been waiting a long time for bigger drawers to come back.
You would think Ford would be smart enough to cover there tracks by removing the Videos from YouTube that show things that we have paid for that have been removed.

They should just delete all these videos. They are confusing at best.

Why are you afraid of future updates? Ford is just going to prepare your Mach E for future updates.

What a week it has been. It started out with the excitement of my car's OTA train starting up leading to BC 1.3. But ended with me lamenting the future loss of the driver experience that has defined my interaction with my car for nearly three years. Yes, I am talking about losing the center speedometer and efficiency animations to be replaced by the, frankly ugly, driving assistance bubble that I absolutely detest and avoid. The MachE has always looked best in the evening and driving home in the dark tonight, I have seriously come to the conclusion that I think I will disable OTA's after 6.7. Yes, the existing experience is worth more to me than BC 1.3, and I have already ordered the 3 year extension (now with regret).

And so I got to thinking about how my silent protest might play out. I can refuse all future CSP's. I can refuse to allow a technician to do anything that requires a data connection. Tires, wipers, air filter, windshield; check, change those at will. I can refuse to have mandatory recalls with software updates completed.

<PAUSE/>

Oh wait, there is a legitimate safety recall on the HVBJB that includes a software update. Just how likely is it that update will be compatible with any random version of software on the car? Just how likely is that to be the case for the next 5, 7, 10 years for any recall? If I have the recall performed, just how likely is my car going to come back with the very update I do not want, to get the one I need? If Ford is required to fix these cars, how does that play out for them (rhetorical, I know the answer based upon a Prius recall I refused to have done)? But that does not mean it is right. Wouldn't it be great if NHTSA made them fix my car and return it to me in the same configuration that I took it in with? One can dream...

So to @Ford Motor Company, I just want to say thank you for taking what has been a great experience for nearly 3 years and turning it into something quite the opposite. Thanks for doing something that was completely unnecessary or only necessary because it was likely cheaper and simpler for someone to implement.

And to the rest of the forum, I also want to say thank you. Thank you for letting me know about this before I had no choice. And thank you for giving me an option, at least for a little while.
Hey, if @MailGuy does not want his 6.8, I’ll take it! ?

I just wish they’d get rid of the awful background track. That’s the most annoying thing about ford videos.

Seems excessive to me. Unless I am missing something here. You bought the most technological car Ford makes, turn off a bunch of safety technology for aesthetic reasons and then turn off OTA updates because you may lose the aesthetics you like?
It's your car, do with it as you'd like, just seems very silly to me
