Why are you afraid of future updates? Ford is just going to prepare your Mach E for future updates.
The prep for the prep. Sharpening the knife to maybe cut onions that could potentially be used to make a meal that someone might show up for. Got it.

When an earlier update eliminated user choice in allocating screen space between the main foreground app and the horizontal app cards, thereby eliminating the large-format card area, I was quite irritated. Some apps made good use of the large cards, including a continuously-visible tire pressure display for all wheels and the radio app that could display (for digital stations) the show being aired. There is no going back, since I expect that app authors aren't coding for it anymore. I'm glad I didn't boycott, though. Most updates made things better.

And, as a job-1 owner, I'm contractually required to mention I'm looking forward to the frunk fix.

Threads like this make me happy I am so far behind, by the time I get caught up, maybe things will be solved ?

On the plus side, I have gotten several updates recently and made it to 4.2.4. I finally have my camera button!

Outrageous that Ford would require me to look 2 inches to the right to know my speed!
For some folks it’s not just looking to the right, the spreed can be obscured when it’s over there. While having a visual indication of the automation status of your car is important, speed is paramount — it should always be front and center.
I'm shocked that we don't have the Ford defenders out in full force yet. It's been more than 10 minutes since the OP.
The so called Ford defenders aren’t happy with this aspect of the 6.8 update either: it’s a matter of which is more important to you, the iconic speedometer or the BC update. For me it’s quite easy, there are no BC roads here and ACC (hands on BC) only works around 40% of the time at best on our roads. I have little to lose.
It was unintentional and could be fixed in a future update.
They could, will they though?
So here we are, everyone begs and clamors for updates, then something changes with the update and they complain
@Mach-Lee is absolutely correct, the car icon always displayed in the dominant position on the IPC was not intentional.

It’s crazy that they will get rid of the interface that is so beloved.
I think it’s crazy that people get this unhinged about where the numbers on the speedometer are, but YMMV.

Can someone share an image?
Yes I would like to see image of old and now new display that everyone is upset about. Speed limit has always been to the right for me because of my settings I have turn on. Can someone post the images to see the difference? I haven't gotten the update yet.

So if they disagree it's ok to criticize, but if they don't disagree then it's defend at all costs? One of the things a lot of us have come to dislike about this forum is that it's become an echo chamber and cult just like the other forums that people talk so much crap about. There's still a ton of good people and subject matter, but it's changed a bit.

Like I said, I may not agree with the OP, but I respect that people don't like it. I just don't think Ford gives a damn. They don't seem to care too much about UI problems. This is where other mfgs seem to listen a lot more to user feedback and actually act on it.

Ok, I just drove my car and now see the speed is not centered ?. I guess I missed that when my car updated a few days ago

Not a big deal for me and not a hill I’m going to die on.

I would rather have Ford spend software development time on letting me control my center channel speaker.

I’ve worked in software development. I’m pretty sure this was discussed and I’m also pretty sure the marketing folks are also heavily involved. I’m guessing some will be using this thread to prove they were right in their opposition to this change.

but like I said earlier, this change is not a big deal for me.
