You kids get off my lawn.
it's a safety feature, it will correct you if you are drifting out of the lane. I think it's one of the best features to show up on cars in a long time, imagine someone not paying attention and drifting towards the center lane only to have the car correct them back into their lane.

I'm beginning to think these features shoudl be standard on all vehicles and not able to disable, just like seat belts.
What I’m actually scratching my head about is why so many people want to turn off safety features (lane keep assist) in order to make the speedometer more aesthetically pleasing.
I’m going to guess there’s a strong correlation between people who turn off the safety features so they can watch pretty moving shapes, and people who most need the safety features.

crap like this makes me consider re-joining the "NEVER EV / Fun ICE Cars Forever Crew". I must be in the twilight zone. Yikes.
OK, you win the Hyperbole Award of the week. You are going to abandon EVs because Ford moved the MPH indicator? Think about that for a minute. If ever there were a case of overreaction this is it. Somebody better tell your wife not to change her hairstyle.

I love the look of the unbridled center speedometer. It’s one of the things I like most about the car in fact. I even have it as my phone Lock Screen. I only turn on driver assist features when I need them for this reason. I am first and foremost a form over function person. You all might not understand why someone can appreciate good design, but I, and clearly several other people do.
You all also might not understand that you don’t have to comment on everything that you don’t agree with, especially when it apparently has no impact on you either way. Kindly keep your negative opinions to yourself.

There is a lot of baby rage going on in this thread for what IMO really isn't that big of deal.
I’ve never had to report another member for harassment on this forum before, but now I have. You are being rude. This apparently doesn’t impact you so please keep your negative comments to yourself.

It sounds like a lot of people have no use for BC since they feel so strongly about having the speedometer in the center.
A lot of people don’t have BlueCruise of any flavor as their cars aren’t equipped for it. Others aren’t near BC surveyed roads on a regular basis.

What I don’t get is why so many on this forum are bent out of shape over some people turning off auto updates so that they can still have the option of the original speed display while they actually drive their cars.

I thought this whole thread was negative.

This is my first opportunity to test my resolve in only reading Post #1 of any thread about OTAs. Already at eight pages from the time of this post, I think I'm making the right decision. I'm sure there's a lot of stuff above this post I'd wish I hadn't read, had I read on.

There are some people who feel the need to be bullies. It usually stems from personal insecurities.

I don’t understand how this topic has so much passion around it. We are mostly talking about a cosmetic change.

Yes, people can disagree about what they think looks better. But not sure why they care so much.

That said, cosmetics aside. I don’t think people should turn off lane keep assist.

It could save a life someday. And not just your own.

I care much more about that than where the speedometer is. Although I would add that to the list of visual things in this car I wish Ford would give us more control over to customize.

To those of you questioning safety, this is not about using or not using safety features, it is about the choice of whether I want them on and what experience the car provides driving it with or without them. I am also losing a feature, animated efficiency feedback.

I am providing feedback to @Ford Motor Company that I do not like this change and will be halting further updates and the opportunity to be further monetized based upon this decision.

You may say it isn’t “about” not using safety features.

But the fact remains, the only way to have the speedometer in the center is to turn off safety features (lane keep) and turn off updates (which will provide future safety features).

Bottom line- you can’t currently be the safest and have what you want.

Now if you want to just complain about that to Ford and ask them to change the above, they actually added a feature to do that……ironically in a recent update. ?

Like I said above, I do wish Ford gave us the ability to customize screens more.

You missed my use of the word choice. There are times when these features only get in the way. Not using them does not inherently make me a less safe driver. I am actually more likely to be engaged knowing I am controlling the car. The only feature we are talking about losing is lane assist. If I want speed control I will choose to turn on adaptive cruise control. Every other feature is still active.

BC is too hyped. It is a cool technology when it works. In nearly three years I have taken exactly one road trip where it was useful. Do I want it in the car? Yes. Do I want it to define the car? No.

Maybe it is just best to say that I am done with Ford taking away things I liked and they are not adding enough value that appeals to me to stay on the update train.

That is my choice.
