I recently brought my 2024 premium x range in for a software recall and I had a safety inspection done as I was thinking of selling. I was shocked to find out that the rotors would not pass as they were rusted and corroded. The car has less than 8000 km on it. Is this a thing?

I thought you'd broke your brakes;)
Oh, Spacey!

You should know that tyres tire when they’re overworked, brakes break when they’re tired, fenders bump when wings don’t fly, bonnets cover engines whilst hoods are gangsters and trunks are luggage whilst the boot is where to keep your trunks and other luggage and as for frunks & froots, well I don’t even know where to even start on that one 😂

Thanks Mark. Two countries separated by a common language. Thought I was in the other forum for a bit.

I’m not shocked they rusted, I’m shocked that they would be so bad they would not pass a safety inspection with Less that 8000km/ 4971 miles on it.

Yes, sorry, thought I’d lighten mood.

I think it’s lack of use and how brakes are used in general which causes this.

I experience sticking brakes due to corrosion which arises just overnight if I wash car and get brake discs/rotors wet night before.

So leaving car for a while unused and in conditions that are not entirely dry will also cause this.

It don’t help that the brakes don’t get used same as, for example, standard ICE cars what with normal regenerative braking, let alone one pedal driving in addition.

There is loads of content here on the forum about this.

Afraid you’ll just have to suck it up and pay for new discs/rotors if they really are so badly corroded and use car and brakes more often even if to just dry and clean discs/rotors of moisture & surface corrosion as it builds up from time to time.

Maybe the Ford rotors are the problem.... Eight years with one pedal driving in the model 3 and brakes have never been a problem....

Or the open spoked wheels offering no protection?

Oops! Meant to copy the link not the whole video...

Didn't like the aero wheels on the model 3 so it's running the spoked 19" sport wheels similar to the mach e.....

Every time I get in, i make sure to put it in neutral and step on the brake pedal...always a good way to knock some rust off if you use 1PD all the time.
