Can’t see car marker on Google Maps using full screen

I got 2.3.0 today and tried out the full screen CarPlay which is nice except when using Google maps it pretty much cuts off the car marker at the bottom of the screen. Is everyone else experiencing this also?

I know how to exit full screen. I was just curious if anyone else was experiencing this also and if so why it would be designed like this.

Yep, it does that. It’ll zoom in when you’re close to our turn so it doesn’t really matter for me.

But from what I saw this morning even when it zooms in when you near a turn the "task bar" is still blocking the car marker making it impossible to see what is supposed to be directly next to you.

Yep, it's a CarPlay viewport bug I think in portrait mode. Only Apple Maps doesn't have this bug in portrait mode.

So you'll find the same bug in Waze in CarPlay portrait screen.

I've let a buddy know at Apple and had it reported internally as a bug for CarPlay / to send over to Google. These things sometimes can take lots of time to get fixed when so few cars support the awesome portrait mode we have on the Mach-E.

I expect this will get lots more attention as more and more cars are shipped with this screen dimension -- right now it's just the Mach-E and I think some Subaru models with portrait ratios supported by CarPlay.

I’m seeing the same issue. I was able to center the marker by setting north to be up. It’s not an ideal solution, but it was the only fix I found.

Report the bug to Google. They will have to fix their CarPlay implementation for this layout.

I updated the iphone to the ios 16 beta 2 version and the problem is solved.
