We recently had our MME serviced for a front parking sensor failure. While they had it the dealer noticed two TSBs that were both software updates and so elected to take care of that on their own volition, which I appreciated. However, while running the updates in FDRS they managed to fail updates on two modules and corrupt one—I suspect they didn’t have the car on a sufficient charger as I got a 12V battery message while they were working—a few days later they finally got the car to stop displaying error messages and throwing codes but the rear camera module was showing the software was still out of date despite there being no available update. They put in a message to Fordā€˜s tech hotline to figure it out but had me take it home over the holidays. Since we picked it up it’s displaying a 12V system drain message every 2-3 days. I’m wondering if this could be an artifact of the software mismatch and the car trying to update it still, or if it’s likely they just discharged the battery too much? We’re going to bring it back in, but I’m just thinking out loud as to the cause. Vehicle has been driven several hours to charge 12V battery.

Just as an update, vehicle is still displaying 12V drain warning, and the vehicle is back at Ford today for them to resolve the issue. They got in contact with the tech hotline and supposedly have a suggested fix. Also, I got useful information from Mike G here on the forum. He pulled up my VIN and noted:

ā€œYou had an APIM OTA on the 3rd (10.1.0). So your car is getting updates.

Your car is reporting so many network issues that they tend to run off the page.

The list is too long to show here. And it's been that way everyday your car has reported in when you've driven it since the repair on the IPMA and then the CMR.

They'll likely need to get the tech hotline involved.ā€

I’ll update when there’s a resolution.

Got the car back today. The notes suggest Ford’s tech line was barking up the same tree as I was, they had them try a reset by disconnecting the battery. That didn’t work, however. They then had them use a VCM3 and a better power supply (I had also suspected they might be not supplying enough power—kinda surprised they werenā€˜t already using a VCM3, unless Ford just insists on noting that) and that also didn’t work. Ford then concluded the rear camera module (CMR) was just bad and had them replace it, the new CMR accepted the updated program, problem solved.
