Hey All.

We hit a raccoon a week or two ago. It wiped out half of the louvres on the front end and apparently messed up at least one of the front end radars.

All was well until today when every time we passed a semi on the interstate the collision avoidance warning would flash and the car would apply the brakes, not radically like it can and will do normally sometimes at slower speeds, but enough to make me worry that one of these times it's gonna do it hard enough to cause me to be rear-ended, etc.

The body shop has all necessary repair parts on order, but it could be awhile.

Can that system be disabled in the meantime? I can rough it

In car, go to settings, Driver Assistance, pre-Collison assist, shut off "Automatic Emergency Braking".

Thank you so much. I dug around the other day, but didn't see that option. That will certainly help my peace of mind until she gets her nose fixed. Thanks again.

Bumping this thread to the top. All of a sudden, my auto emergency braking resets to ON every time I start the car. I think it just started doing this? Previously, it would come back on with every OTA update, but now it's every key cycle. This can't be right. I do not want this system on, I've had too many false activations. Guess I have to report this to Ford?

If you're in a case where the sensor is damaged or misaligned and it is causing false emergency breaking, you probably should disable the system by disconnecting the damaged/misaligned radar.
