Ford Mustang Mach-E Car key updates on iOS 15 66AF2D25-FAC9-4D46-9991-5A8F5E24C034

I don't know if Mach-E have UWB hardware for this through.
But native iOS controls would be much better than the FordPass app.

Yeah, I’m guessing not. During the WWDC conference, they mentioned that BMW (I believe) would be shipping the first cars with it next year. If I’m wrong on BMW, I do remember it wasn’t Ford. :)

IIRC Apple announced this technology well after the MME specs were set, so there was zero chance it could be incorporated into this years models. BMW has announced it on the iX for next year.

It looks promising as a technology to me. But then again so do hydrogen fuel cells and cold fusion. ;)

Downside: Apple. They don’t tend to work and play well with others at times.

Actually, I believe CarKey is based on some kind of open spec stuff in the auto industry.
Also, theoretically, Ford COULD offer a Dealer-Installed UWB module. They’ve done stuff like this before. After all, look at all the different dealer installed dash cameras, parking sensors, remote start systems and stuff they offer today.

They could, but it is unlikely that they will. I honestly don’t see this being incorporated until a model refresh, if ever.

I suspect it would be included in future models if it gains wide market acceptance. If it doesn’t go beyond BMW, it will probably die.
A good indicator for market acceptance might be other iPhone-based products, like transit pass. The uptake on that is slowly increasing over time. Walt Disney World is phasing out their proprietary MagicBand solution in favor of the Transit Pass Apple Wallet solution.
