Car on order since April

Not sure if this would be specific to just the Canadians in this forum, I've had my Mach E on order since April with that order They wanted a Deposit. The car is nowhere near ready in fact the tracker is still stuck on "in production" The dealer is telling me the car is fully built sitting in the yard in Mexico. What would happen if i changed my mind for whatever reason (cold feet, bad decision money wise etc). What are the consequences?

The deposit should be fully refundable, I think. I believe it's mainly to secure your position in the build queue. It's possible that it's different in Canada, or that your dealer has some different terms. Did you do the deposit through Ford online, or did you do it through a dealer?

FWIW, when I ordered mine in '23, it took a little over 5 months for it to be built and arrive at the dealer. That was the height of demand and supply chain issues (and I could buy a '26 Rally for what I paid for my '23 Premium, too, sigh.) So I would think the production chain is potentially faster these days, but I'm not sure.

Do you have any paperwork from them? It should specify whether the deposit is refundable, but I believe that's the standard from Ford.

But don't get cold feet, you're going to love the car!!

I love the car Don't get me wrong it was my top choice!, to be transparent I'm pissy because I know the car is fully built sitting in the yard in Mexico. But no one can tell anyone why. The car has been fully built since May 21st. To be honest though if I'm told I have to wait another 2-3 months I want out and I'll look for something else. @Ford Motor Company @Ford of Canada has very poor communication/transparity.

Yeah, mine was fully built for about a month before it shipped. I think they just wait until they can fill the train, and then send it... Fingers crossed for you that it arrives soon!

The car will show as in production until it’s shipped. Typical wait times at the factory before shipping average around 3 weeks. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Shipping time varies depending on where you're at. Eastern provinces (and states as well) are a bit faster. Western provinces can be a bit longer.

The good news is that the delivery railroad, Kansas City Southern, was acquired by Canada Pacific railroad. The two companies are operationally combined and there's no longer a bottleneck for Canada bound cars at Kansas City. Or so I’m told.

I'm in Ontario and I placed my order April 18. Car was scheduled for the week of June 1st. Went into production on June 4th and was marked as built on June 5th. Just got the note yesterday that it was shipped and is estimated for delivery around July 10th

I ordered in November 2025 and also still in production. I'm convinced there is a quality hold currently. Even if it released today, I won't see it for at least 2 months thanks to wonky logistics.

Ask your dealer to look for cars comparable to yours. Sometimes they can trade other dealers for an already built version of what you ordered.

Ha-Ha, my "First Edition" was ordered Nov 2019 and delivered March 2021.

Did a online chat with @Ford of Canada. Was told all they know about my order is that it's in production and has an ETA of June 20th 2026. But can't tell me why it's on quality hold or stop ship for that matter. So what exactly does an ETA of June 20 mean?
